Okay, I'm suggesting right here and now that America set a trade embargo on Canada that halts all export of what they call entertainment. This includes the children's tv shows big U.S. networks air and hope kids will believe is first-run programming and VH1's entire on-air staff. We'll still accept their beer, though. Just saw this really stupid "horror" film called Ginger Snaps, which got a lot of buzz as a sleeper a while back. It's boring, insipid and very Canadian. "Thawt's a werewoolf, eh?". I've tried to embrace those silly, silly people up North but if this is all they can give us, forget it.

What about their wrestlers, eh?

Are you kidding?  This country will be thrown into chaos without a supply of maple syrup, comedians and hockey players.  Well actually, we have Vermont for the syrup.  But still, I don't even wanna think about how we'll get along without all those worthless Canadian pennies that always get mixed up with our currency.

I agree that ginger snaps was bad but you can't blame that on the f**king country it came from. Its not like the u.s hasn't shoveled out its fair share of s**t.

Nah, sorry, I thought Ginger Snaps was good. A bit predictable near the end, but on the whole a good movie. As a Limey, I don't fully understand your attitude to Canadians. What gives?

I haven't seen it, though it seems to be a love it or hate it kind of movie.  The title alone drives me away--Ginger Snaps has to be the worst movie title in the last 20 years or so at least.  It's almost as bad as Rat Pfink a Boo Boo.

"Ginger Snaps" is truly one of the best horror films that is currently out there(on video store shelves),with its own unique twist on the werewolf genre, amazing directing(by John Fawcett),a highly entertaining script, and great peformances by all the actors involved,as well as plenty of severe kick-ass,80s-style gore.
Luckily, there won't a problem with any Canadian films landing on U.S. shores, since many of U.S. films are partial(or entirely)filmed in The Great White North, with the recent "Jason X",chock full of Canadian actors(with the exception of Kane Hodder ala Jason),and a sci-fi universe that only the Canadian could have easily thought of,being a major example.
With "Dog Soldiers" on the way, "Stray Dawgz"(the Ice Cube/Gregory Dark lycanthrope outing) unfortunately still in pre-production hell, and a "Ginger Snaps" sequel well on the way(perhaps it'll be called "Brigitte Snaps"),it looks like the werewolf genre is healthfully coming back in style(with no sheer signs of "Howling" sequels on the way to attempt to kill it worse than a silver bullet).

I'm actually looking forward to Dog Soldiers. And the Canadian actors were one of the many things that killed Jason X for me.

Okay, I apologize on behalf of Canada, because unfortunately almost all our movies suck.  Occasionally a few good ones slip by (I quite enjoy Cube, Top of the Food Chain, Guy Maddin and David Cronnenberg flicks) but there is one reason that can take blame.  Government funding.  The Canadian Government funds 99% of the crap you see come from here and the last thing they want is a hit.  Cube did cause a lot of problems because it was a hit and people were furious.  They want they're films to be culturally relevant but for God's Sake, don't make them entertaining.  Plus it's a elite club at the National Film Board where they pat everyone on the back for making junk while laughing smugly at anyone who dares entertain.  Canadian films do suck, but don't blame all of Canada, there's still people out there trying to get weird, entertaining stuff made (but they have to go to the states).

You have to bring Miss Joely Collins out of Canada , thats all we want here in the U.S. She is a fine export.
