i saw Epsiode II this weekend
enjoyable...

but i saw a movie called "Life as a House" a couple weeks ago..
and then i started thinking to myself...
hey!! i have seen that Anakin guy somewhere before...
he plays the disgruntal teenager in "Life as a House" as well
(which is actually a decent movie)
but it was REALLY funny to me to see "Anakin" in this Star Wars playing pretty much the SAME character...
ahaha

if you are bored and have the time.. rent "Life as a House"
you will see what i mean
and you will get to see "Anakin" all Gothed out!
ahaha

oh yeah..
and my mom told me yesterday that she saw on the internet somewhere that Burt Reynolds was orginally set to play Hans Solo!!!
ahahahahahahahah
what the hell would that of been like?

ohhh...
one more thing...
i am about to EXPLODE trying to figure out who the guy in the Turtleneck in Episode II is...
he is always hanging out with the now Emperor guy
he has a blue turtleneck on..
he is on some soap opera or TV show??
eekk!!
it's driving me crazy!

I find that hard to believe.

Being that, at least for Star Wars, Lucas wanted to cast in a group, to get people that worked together well.  So he had people auditioning in teams.  There were four groups (four Luke's, four Leia's, etc...) that would audition as a group.  You'd have one Luke, Leia and Han all reading together.   The way Harrison Ford got the part was that Lucas was short one Han for a group.  Harrison Ford, who is a carpenter by trade when not acting, was doing some work around the office where they were casting.  Since Lucas had worked with Ford on "American Grafetti", he knew Ford and asked him to sorta stand in as Han for one of the group auditions.

Anyway, with that approach, nobody was really set up to play Han, like in a normal movie.  I don't know if Burt was one of the Han's in one of the groups, but he wasn't 'the guy' targetted for the role

D

I also heard that a young Chris Walken tried out fo the part of Han. It's a shame he didn't get the part. Think of Mr. Walken and the Ewoks. On the same screen.

Mofo Rising

Hmmm.  According to IMDb, Hayden Christensen was also the paperboy from IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS.

The guy in the turtleneck is Jimmy Smits, who's done quite a few things.  He's probably best known for "NYPD Blue" and "L.A. Law".  His character is also named Senator Bail Organa.  Now why does that name sound familiar?

J.R.

Actually, Nick Nolte was to be Han Solo up until almost the last minute. That would've been great. Imagine a hung-over, p**sed-off Han. "Ah, crap. Chewbacca, fix the friggin' warp drive, I'm takin' a nap."

In 1976, Kurt Russell did indeed test for the part of Han Solo and Luke Skywalker. along with the likes of William Katt (The Greatest American Hero), Cindy Williams (Amercian Grafitti, Laverne & Shirley), Terri Nunn (lead singer for the 80s band Berlin), Perry King (Riptide, Melrose Place), Charles Martin Smith (American Graffiti, The Buddy Holly Story, Starman), Robbie Benson (Ice Castles), Amy Irving (nominated for an Academy Award for Yentl & wife of Steven Spielberg 85-89), Linda Purl (Mighty Joe Young, Happy Days), Andrew Stevens (Dallas), Frederic Forrest (Apocalypse Now, Valley Girl, Lonesome Dove) as well as many others.

Did Dom DeLuise try out for Chewbacca?   Now that would have been a movie!

At first I really hated this Annakin performance [though not as bad as that brat in Episode I] but then I realized he was actually doing a good job because you're supposed to shake your head at his youthful arrogance.

Still, that "romantic" dialogue between him and Natalie Portman was terrible.

actually I think that Marlon Brando would play a good chewbacca......you already can't really understand the poor bastard....
