STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION threw out some real quality episodes, but the season-ending, two part cliffhanger "The Best of Both Worlds" is still my favorite.  Captain Picard kidnapped and assimilated by the Borg?  OH NO!!! :buggedout: :buggedout: :buggedout:
"I shall smite you in the nostrils with a rod of iron, and wax your spleen with Efferdent!!"

'Our Mrs Reynolds' in Firefly. I was torn between this and 'The Train Robbery', both of which are great episodes for establishing character, as well as sewing plot threads that return later in the season.

Good choice! Episode for episode Firefly was one of the all-time greats.

Indeed. It was the show I'd been waiting for since Babylon 5 ended.

The Hawaii Five O episode "Lekio" [Radio] with a very surprising guest star.
We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.

"Luck of the Fryish" form Futurama.

While Futurama had some really emotional moments, I think this episode did the best job of managing both the drama and the comedy.

At least, that's what Gary Busey told me...

The Burgomaster

The episode of "All in the Family" when Archie Bunker meets Sammy Davis, Jr.

"Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me the hell alone."

the Simpsons when Homer starts the gossip website and ends up on some weird island

Seinfeld when they go to the car dealer and kramer kidnaps the test drive

In some ways I think "Devil in the dark" was star trek's best ep. Kirk wanted to kill the horta for what it had done,  Spock thought it might not be right to kill it.  They disagreed but kirk had faith in Spock,  later when kirk found out the truth he was willing to kill fellow humans to protect the horta.  Leonard nimoy had to do some serious acting and emoting in this episode,  which was even harder given how funny the horta prop  looked.  All in all I think it caught the spirit of th original star trek series perfectly.
