In our age that ideal has devolved to: "If I disagree with what you are saying, I will defend to the death my right to destroy you over it."

Well,  we've made some progress. At least we don't let religious groups burn people at the stake for heresy anymore.

Also,  if you want to decry destroying people over unpopular or incorrect views and link it to liberals and political correctness please remmebr a man named McCarthy and the HUAC hearings.

I miss the days when you were freer to say what you wanted, but would then equally have to face the consequences. Now everything is racist, sexist or whateverist.
