I'm sitting at the terminal 5 Starbucks at London Heathrow.  My first flight was cancelled yesterday so I had to drive to Chicago.  I couldn't make the original flight that would take me to Madrid so I got rebooked from Chicago to Heathrow and have a flight coming up soon to Madrid.  If American hadn't strung us along and cancelled the f**king flight sooner I could have driven to Chicago earlier and made my original flight to Madrid.  I let American have it for that.  Of course their "customer service" is showing why people avoid taking them anywhere.  I think from now on if I do these flights to Europe I'm going to take the 6am flight then a later flight overseas so I have enough of an envelope to get to Chicago by car if I have to and minimize disruption.

Have fun! I'd like to take a trip to Europe this year, too. Thinking of going to Cannes, even.

When I flew with American I actually booked through BA so I dealt with BA customer service which was amazing. When I had a flight that was late landing they had someone waiting at the gate when my flight from the US arrived into Heathrow to tell me that they'd already booked me onto another flight and that my luggage would be waiting for me at my final destination. With US airlines I've found Delta to have the best customer service but I usually prefer EU airlines, KLM and BA have both been good for me.

I've travelled a lot between the UK and the US with Delta andd generally speaking I'd recommend them.

Although for the in flight meals take the chicken. Always the chicken.
