The movie The Mirror Crack'd (1980) has a scene where people are watching a movie, the projector breaks and Miss Marple (Angela Lansbury) solves the case for the viewers.

In TRUE ROMANCE, Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette are watching kung fu films in the theater...

In POPCORN, we get quite a bit of footage of people watching a few made up horror films in a theater...
