"_______" is secretly dead the whole time is ALWAYS a horrible theory.  Basically anything you can say can be twisted to support it, it just never actually works.

The theories are really just about people trying to sound smarter than they actually are.

True. Tho I do have a theory that Ash Ketchum died in the 1st episode of Pokemon, & that he was immediately brought back to life by Ho-oh.

That would require the show's writer to know some intimate details of the 2ng games' story, & I'm not sure how much GameFreak had written.
