*waiting for bob's list*

Tricky one. I know people who think Mommie Dearest (1981) isn't funny at all, and I know people who think Hercules (1983) is a laugh riot. Personally I could never laugh at Ed Wood movies because they are too dull. In my own experience of watching movies with friends and family over the years, my list of films that made us laugh for some reason or the other:

Unbreakable (2000)
Saw (2004)
Point Break (1991)
Dreamcatcher (2003)
Knock Knock (2015)
Cobra (1986)
The Wicker Man (2006)
The Blue Lagoon (1980)
Showgirls (1995)
Sharknado (2013)
The Boy Next Door (2015)
House of the Dead (2003)
Troll 2 (1990)
Dragon Wars: D-War (2007)
Mommie Dearest (1981)
Earthquake (1974)
Rest Stop (2006)
Amityville II: The Possession (1982)
Pieces (1982)
Wishmaster 2: Evil Never Dies (1999)
Samurai Cop (1991)
Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest (1995)
Space Mutiny (1988)
2-Headed Shark Attack (2012)
Howling II: ... Your Sister Is a Werewolf (1985)
Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2 (1987)
Blood Feast (1963)
Satan's Little Helper (2004)
The Hills Have Eyes Part II (1984)
Nightmare City (1980)
Mortuary (2005)
Mega Piranha (2010)
Burial Ground: The Nights of Terror (1981)
Shark Attack 3: Megalodon (2002)
Madman (1981)
Hell of the Living Dead (1980)
Kingdom of the Spiders (1977)
The In Crowd (2000)
Slugs (1988)
Piñata: Survival Island (2002)
Wendigo (2001)
The Boogey Man (1980)
Can't Stop the Music (1980)
The Video Dead (1987)
Blood Rage (1987)
Mega Python vs. Gatoroid (2011)
He Knows You're Alone (1980)
Don't Go in the Woods (1981)
The Horror of Party Beach (1964)
The Manitou (1978)

I'll post the rest of the list later

a lot of bad movies that I love seem ambiguous as to whether the comedy is intentional or not... I mean, the "bad chop suey" scene in PIECES. that has to be a joke right? and the 'horny nurse' scene in SAMURAI COP... a lot of them tread this weird tightrope between intentional comedy and not, so it's hard to tell.

if (and I mean if) BIRDEMIC was genuinely intended as a serious film then that has to be the ultimate example, for me. I'm still not 100% convinced that it's not a deliberate bad movie though - and I've seen interviews with the director/actors etc, who all seem real about it.

From the top of my mind I can think of BIRDEMIC: SHOCK AND TERROR, DREAMCATCHER, FEEDERS, and JACK'O. In fact, JACK'O was my first bad movie ever, which we actually rented from the store, and still remember to this day with my friends because we laughed our asses off.

You ever watch Best Worst Movie?  It's fascinating seeing the director come to a screening of Troll 2 for the first time, and basically be kind of devastated by people laughing at his work.  He clearly was entirely serious.

Yeah, most bad movies from Italy (pretending to be american) made between the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s were made with serious intent. Troll 2 goes beyond bad, one would think it is a satirical comedy on veganism. The badness is pure genius because the director put so much effort in it not knowing he was doing it all wrong, like for example refusing an offer to properly translate the poorly translated script from Italian to english. Lots got lost in his own translation but the director thought it was alright.

On a similar note, I love how people NOW claim that Showgirls was a satire from the get-go and that director Verhoeven was ahead of his time and fooling everyone.
That's tin foil hat mentality right there  :bouncegiggle:

You mentioned Bloody Murder 2.

I never saw that one.  I did see Bloody Murder with some friends once.  Although out the movie we were listing the things they they copied/homaged/stole from other movies.

A hockey mask killer in coveralls with a chainsaw that rumors say has replaced his hand (it didn't) stalking people with names like Jason and Tobe at Lake (sorry, I mean CAMP) Placid is just funny for how much stuff it ripped off.

The first Bloody Murder is really bad, Bloody Murder 2 is cheesetastic. Think Troll (ehhh) and Troll 2 (yes!).

Well, in that case, I might just have to actually check it out.
