Greetings:

I am taking a film studies course in which What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? is a subject of analysis. I don't think it can be considered a "bad" movie, since the production elements are very good. But it seems to me that the absurdities in the plot make it almost as laughable as some of your wonderfully bad favourites. Blanche is not "trapped" in the house, she has many opportunities of alerting the neighbors, and as for the stairs, why does she try to go down on her paralyzed legs while clinging to the banister, when she could sit on the steps and slide down? When she finally gets to the phone, she doesn't call the police, or even ask the dim doctor who she calls to send them, but just whimpers about Jane's behaving strangely lately. She has two strong arms and plenty of blunt instruments to whack Jane with, and Joan Crawford's eyebrows look pretty dangerous, too. And when  Elvira (good name) sneaks in and finds Blanche's door locked, does she try to break the lock with her screwdriver and hammer? No! She bangs away at the hinges! And of course doesn't think of calling the cops or anything. Is Baby Jane too good to include on this site? It's a fine line, I admit.
Why is The Creeping Terror not listed? I'm pretty sure that's the title. I saw it one late night on TV many years ago and thought I was hallucinating it at the time, but no! it's real!
It is an extremely low-budget "film" which seems to have been shot without sound and then dubbed with cheesy voices, music and sound effects. The creeping terror is a shag carpet sleeping bag from outer space operated by the director's little brother inside it. It can't actually catch victims and eat them itself, so they have to pretend to resist while stepping into the bag. It's great!
Thanks for the laughs and good luck, Andrew.

Have you seen the MST3K take on "Creeping Terror?" Laugh your butt off! When ever the narratior talks in place of Diologue, its a sure sign some one lost the sound track tapes, and reshooting the scene is out of the budget! Sounds like Baby Jane is a prime candidate for some riffing, too.

I don't need MST3K to enjoy a bad movie.  I like them when it's some really crappy made-for-TV movie that has no entertainment value otherwise, but I think true bad movie fans will be able to appreciate the classics of bad cinema as they are, without someone else telling me what I should be laughing it.

Hey, wasn't either Joan Crawford's or Bette Davis' performance in Baby Jane nominated for an Oscar?  Lemme check...yep, t'was nominated for Best Supporting Actor  [Victor Buono]. Actress [Bette Davis], Best Sound, Best Cinematography, and Best Costume Design, which it won.  Doesn't exactly sound like bad movie material to me.   I only saw parts of it on TV when I was a kid.  I remember Bette Davis scaring me!

Don't realy need MST to do bad flicks, but it did help. Did not feel compelled to laugh at a joke because they were makeing it, only if i decided it were the fun. And, as i've done 13 flicks that Mike and the bots never got to, its been fun doing my own riff tapes. Now, i just need an audience! Its good to be young and insane. Well, okey, middleaged, but the ideas the important thing!
