SHAFT (1971)  on TCM right now... always enjoyable... bull-crap.
If you want to view paradise . . . simply look around and view it!

Another good movie banned by the apartheid censor board  :bluesad:
We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.

The Burgomaster

One of the best of the 70s. Richard Roundtree is cool, the music is cool, the New York locations are cool . . . damn . . . it's so cool. "Shut your mouth!"
"Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me the hell alone."

A great name for a cinematographer: Urs Furrer.

I prefer other Blaxploitation films of the era like Foxy Brown, Coffy, Cleopatra Jones, Black Caesar, Dolemite and others for a variety of reasons however that doesn't take away from Shaft's importance. It help made the genre go mainstream.

COFFY
is one of my favorite films, and FOXY BROWN is a smorgasbord of delights.

Same here. Iconic? Sure. A good movie? Not really.
Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

COFFY is my favorite as well. The MACK is a close second.
