I just bought Junkman on dvd boasting that this movie is in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the most car crashes.  I haven't watch it yet but , I just want to know if it's worth it or not.  (And J.R., don't tell me the whole movie if you seen it.  I am truly, truly, truly sorry for that last thread.  Really.)

Yeah,it's completely worth it,since H.K. Halicki was the brains behind the original "Gone In 60 Seconds"(which inspired the recent Nicolas cage car chase opera),and also worked behind the scenes of "Love Me Deadly"(the pre-"Necromantik" 70s chiller),and is sadly no longer with us.
Keep it in your collection den while you can.

Hey guys, this is my first post to this forum, but I've been "lurking" so to speak for nearly 2 years.  I could go on and on about how great this web site is, but who doesn't know that already?  So I'll spare you guys the praise/tirade and get on with business, which in this case, relates to the film The Junkman.

I first watched H.B. Halicki's original Gone in Sixty Seconds nearly a month ago.  I was instantly hooked, and the 40 minute chase at the end was everything it was cracked up to be, and a whole lot more.  Considering the fact that it was an entirely independent production is even more amazing.  After watching the amazing Gone in Sixty Seconds, I was hooked, and scrambled to see what other films Halicki had worked on before he unfortunately died in the late eighties.  That's when I read about "The Junkman", which does hold the Guiness World Book of Record for the number of cars wrecked.  My expectations were absolutely HUGE, and for the most part, they were met.  Mostly.

The thing about The Junkman is that it's just a strange movie.  I'm talking really bizarre here, with some scenes that were just thrown in for the hell of it, it seems.  I'm not going to reveal the plot or anything else, I just think that it plays off more as an attempt at comedy than Gone in Sixty Seconds.  However, the plot and acting and everything else takes a backseat to the chase/driving scenes, which is what this movie is all about.  And they're great, absolutely incredible.  A couple of extended chases, with some others mixed in.  Great stuff here, as exciting as Gone in Sixty Seconds, if not moreso.  Anyways, that's all I'll say about The Junkman.  It's worth having in your collection, especially if you enjoy Halicki's films and love car movies.  I'd say hold onto it, for sure.

One more thing, the DVD insert says that Gone in Sixty Seconds II is going to be released on DVD soon, which should be interesting to watch.  Hopefully that will come out soon and will be as good as the other DVD's have been.
