In front of almost every movie I've seen this year has been the trailer for Austin Powers In Goldmember. Black Hawk Down, Spider-Man, Attack Of The Clones, Blade 2, Minority Report, probably some others I'm forgetting. Does it look good to anyone? To me it seems forced and overdone, like it will be trying to hard to hit the laughs the first two got so effortlessly. "Scotty, don't" just doesn't work. I just saw the music video for a song called "Daddy" by Mike Myers from the soundtrack, and it was desperately unfunny. This looks like it may go down as the Phantom Menace of the Austin Powers series. Michael Caine should be funny, though.

It was getting bad with the "spy who shagged me" re-using characters like the fat scotsman who i didnt think was funny in the first place. He should have created a different villian too. It just seemed like a re-make of the first. I see its the same cast of characters once again in "Goldmember" i hope it sinks fast in the box office. Mike Myers can do better then this. Or can he?

Think "I Married an Axe Murder" and then as that question again

Come on,Guys:everybody knows that once "Austin Powers:Goldmember' is out, that it'll have an ovecrowded, long line-filled multi-million dollar grossing weekend, paving the way for more adventures.
An I agree, though, that Austin should fight several new villains, other than Dr. Evil(at least he has the title one to take on)...I think that Bruce Campbell would make a good Austin foe in a future film.
And,for Austin babes, maybe Asia Argento or one of the WWF Divas(Stacy Keibler,Trish Stratus)would make a good girl for Austin to have his arm around.
I'm sure that Mike Myers still has plenty of creative gags to unspool upon us all(and bury Jack Black with, since he's already K.O.'ed that La-Hoo-ZaHer Tom Green)for future Austin installments, since highly doubt it that it'll end after "Goldmember";it won't.

I liked parts of AXE MURDERER, mainly the scenes with his father tormenting the boy with the huge head.  "HEED!"

I don't know if I'll see it in the theater, but the GOLDMEMBER trailers looked funny to me, especially the part with Mini-Me being chased around.  And I personally like the Fat Bastard character.  But no, it probably won't break any new ground, but I'm sure it'll be funnier than most of the other comedies.  Though that says more about the other comedies....

Just be glad Meyers intends for this one to be the last one. Anyone who's been watching ABC's The James Bond Show has to have broken down crying and cursing at some point--"Why won't this parade of s*** END?!? How many times can they remake the same damned movie? Why did they keep thinking Roger Moore had 'one more' left in him?"

And bear in mind, some people loved International Man of Mystery and hated The Spy Who Shagged Me; for others, the opposite is true, and some folks either loved both or hated both. Strangely, while I enjoyed the first one very much, I had almost completely forgotten it by the time the second came out--but I have enjoyed both for their different merits (Fat Bastard alone almost makes South Park look like Teletubbies) and I have a little more faith in Goldmember than any other sequel this season (Star Wars included).

Just for laughs: I proposed a plot for the third and final Austin Powers a while back--a Face/Off rip/off called The Man With The Golden Mojo. Dr. Evil uses a device to exchange minds with Austin, not only giving him Austin's "essence," but also his life, while Austin gets stuck with Scott, Mini-Me, the cat, and a life of failure. Long story short: in the end, Austin finds happiness as a parent and much-more-successful evil genius (as CEO of Starbucks), and Dr. Evil realizes he actually likes a life of adventure and do-gooding, and they keep their new bodies and new roles, living happily ever after.

I hated the whole "mojo" plot to the last one--I know the whole thing is based on fantasy, but for some reason I can accept the idea of time travel but thought the idea of "mojo" was too goofy for me to be able to willingly suspend my disbelief.

The best parts of the movie aren't really plot related, I just enjoy watching Dr. Evil interact with his family and underlings.  I don't really care all that much about watching the Austin Powers character.

I didn't like the mojo idea either. I mostly liked both movies, although there were a lot of jokes I thout fell flat.

BTW, I always thought the description for the Fat Bastard action figure on Amazon was funny; "Large man of uncertain parentage".
