Technically, it's a new retelling of the old classic, described as "a martial arts version of Snow White." Check out the article at CHUD.com .

Now, reading about this film was an interesting experience for me. I did not know I wanted to see a new version of Snow White. I thought I was perfectly happy without one.

But after reading the article, I realized I have a little hole in my soul. One that only a Kaiju version of Snow White can fill.

Oh, and I want to see this movie, too.

Is Asian cinema finally rubbing off on America? Ballistic: Ecks Vs. Sever and The Transporter are both domestic films obviously influenced by Hong Kong, and martial arts movies are getting wide theatrical releases. Maybe Hollywood's realizing why we turn to bad movies and import bins to avoid their recycled crap?

I don't know about "finally."  I keep thinking that Die Hard was, in many ways, in the same sort of vein as John Woo's films.  Not stylistically, of course.  I mean more stylish than what had come before it.  (The Commandos and the Rambos say.)

Don't get me wrong.   Die Hard isn't in the same league as Hard Boiled .  (What is?)

Also, Hollywood's growing fascination with Hong Kong type flicks is only good if they actually do something new with it.    Otherwise, it just, as you put it, recycled stuff.

I consider Die Hard one of the greatest movies of all time.

I wouldn't have called Die Hard the greatest movie of all time.  I think Hard Boiled , despite its flaws, is better.  However, that doesn't mean I  think Die Hard is unworthy.
