William Girdler historian Abby, familiar to any reader of this board, did a commentary track for Something Weird's DVD of Girdler's Asylum of Satan.  I haven't gotten a copy yet, but the disc is reviewed this morning at http://www.dvddrive-in.com.  Here's the relevant paragraph:

"Fasten your seatbelts: if you didn't dig the films (what's wrong with you?), the extras will leave you smiling! The centerpiece of the disc is an audio commentary by William Girdler historian Patty Breen [aka Abby] and Majestic International Pictures' Jeffrey C. Hogue on ASYLUM OF SATAN. While Hogue chimes in every now and then, Breen is the star of this commentary. Having conducted painstaking research on her subject and revealing behind-the-scenes details on every single aspect of the film (she even points out why a cat passing by the camera doesn't have a tail!), Breen should be heard on every Girdler disc made available. Not surprisingly, the commentary is a lot more entertaining to listen to than the film is to watch a second time and listeners will likely find them revisiting the commentary sooner than expected; Breen spouts off so much information it's hard to take it all in the first viewing!"

Good work, Abby, and congrats again.

...it's just been waiting for some other stuff to come in.

Abby

Thanks a heap fellers ... especially you, Ken.

Poor Ken made the mistake of trying congratulate me  on participating in the DVD back in July, and I think I pretty much screamed liked a wounded banshee in reply: "AARGGGHHH!!! IT'S GONNA SUCK! I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT!!! SOMEBODY KILL ME BEFORE SEPTEMBER 3RD"

It sounded fairly close to that --- only it went on for half a page. Sorry about being a wee bit sensitive Ken. :)

I'm still a little touchy about the whole thing  ... it's kind of weird ... I can't listen to it again myself. It's an odd conflict because on one hand, I want folks to see Asylum of Satan. On the other hand, I DON'T want folks to think I'M a dork.

I'd post a link to Amazon w/ Andrew's ID, but I know he hasn't seen the disc yet, and the second feature is more of an 18 and up affair.

Andrew

I am eagerly awaiting my "Asylum of Satan" DVD to arrive and looking forward to reading the rest of her Girdler piece.  The first part was in Fangoria #216 and is well worth the time and money to read.
