The Last Voyage Of The Demeter

And know, after burning what I laughingly call a brain over trivial tripe that I will not mention again, I've stumbled over a potentially interesting film called The Last Voyage Of The Demeter

Now, obviously, if this film is at all faithful, it's going to have a bleak ending.  But, even if it doesn't, here's a look at the whole Dracula myth that hasn't been full explored before.

I mean, I'm pumped.  This is the first Vampire film I've heard of in a long time that I really want to see.

It'll be crap.  No way it'll be good.

But here's hoping.

It'll be interesting to see how they wrap that up...  With a wolf trotting down the dock into London?  Kind of leaves you wanting more.  Probably they'll have the crew slowly realize what is on board and try to stop the ship from getting to land (or at least divert it to France, heh heh).  Could be a very scary movie, but it'll beg the "why didn't they just burn the ship and row to land during the daytime" question.

It's been a few years since I read Dracula (a few being a euphmisim for over a decade), but I think that, by the time they realized there was a problem, they were well on their way.  That's the middle of the North Sea.  Makes for a long row.*

Also, here's a little fact for ya: Dracula only rested in the day time.  The sun weakened him; it didn't kill him.**

A part of me hopes for a faithful translation, but another part hopes for something else.  A final struggle against Dracula, maybe?  Might be neat.

**Here's a fun little question: In which movie did Dracula first die by sun light?  And, while in spirit correct, the answer isn't Nosferatu .

*****  I just think the deck of a wooden ship on a rainy night with a shadowy figure suddenly illuminated by lightening is a situation just MADE for a dark movie theater.  It really is a neat idea for the movie.
