Painful nights (part I)

Fearless Freep

I just finished up two movies that seriously calls into question my general tendancy to be willing to rent stuff even when I have no clue what the movie's about.

Counter Destroyer  - About a mad vigelante who wrecks havoc in 'greasy spoons' across the midwest.   Well, not really, but that makes a better plot synopsis than any I could come up with for the movie.

Before viewing it, I checked IMDB and it redirected me to a movie called "RoboVampire".  Comments indicated a very poorly done Japanese "RoboCop" rip-off.  Ok, I could handle that, I guess.   A further review of RoboVampire elsewhere mentioned that it was produced by Tomas Tang, who was infamous for splicing together unfinished film footage to build a movie (sorta a poor man's, kung fu, early Roger Corman, I guess).  Both locations agreed that this movie was about a police officer investigating drug gangs who gets killed an comes back as a robot-ninja.  Hopping Vampires are also prominantely mentioned.  That sounds like a good movie, but what I got was quite a bit different.

This movie seems to be about several competing movie production companies trying to all complete a film about the last emperor of China.  And the competition includes kidnapping, bombing, murder, script writers in huanted houses, and...um....hopping vampires. There's also a polic officer or private detective or something that does  Lynda Carter/Wonder Women routine, turning into a silver ninja of some kind, who *is* called a "machine" at one point.

And that's the scary part.  This is not the same movie as reviewed as "Robo Vampire" and appearing on IMDB under the name "Counter Destroyer", but it does contain some simularities, such as hopping vampires and the 'metallic' ninja.  Also, some of the pictures and actors from the above linked review *do* seem to come from this movie, especially the ninja, but some do not.

I got the impression watching this that I was indeeed watching several movies spliced together with a new script overdubbed over the original, said new script having nothing to do with the original film.  The story was faily incomprehensible on many parts, and I had to keep rewinding to catch what I'd missed (or started to sleep through)

I wouldn't recommened this one to anybody; that martial arts parts were to few and far between and generally uninspiring to interest  genre fans.  "Tomas Tang completists" or the morbidly curious, maybe

Hummm....
I saw the "Robovampire" title on sale with the garish "Robocop ripoff " cover at half priced books. The hopping Vampires and the dead cop part , as described by the box blurb, made it sound like a laff. Maby its good i did not buy it. Although.....are these two, distinct movies, Fearless Freep?
Sounds like some one did a "Parts swap".

"Aggressivlly eccentric, and proud of it!"

Fearless Freep

Although Japanese movies, these two read like a Chinese buffet plate "A little of this and a little of that".  Bunch of movie parts spliced together  I'd hazard that if it was titled "Robo Vampire" you'd get the right one.  I think what I got was just due to some confusion.  The opening credits read "Counter Destoyer" and the box seemed to describe the "Robo Vampire" plot, but the actual story was not the same

Although.....are these two, distinct movies, Fearless Freep?

Hard to say.  I actually suspect there are several movies spliced together into (at least) two movies.

Consider the "Unknown Movies" review I linked above.  The first picture is very familia.  The second (of the silver ninja) is the same character as in what I saw, although I don't recall that pose (could've been there, though).  The third picture is hard to place contextually, but I recognize all the actors.  The last two pictures (the arm wrestling toruney?? and the hopping vampires at the beach??) are not in what I saw at all.
