Oh MY!!!!! A buddy and I watched this "movie" the other night.
I have NO idea how this one got past me!!! It was fantastic!!!!!
Full of close-up damsil in destress scream scenes, A scientist that turns into a burnt charcol, swollen hands/head clumsy lumbering monster that can kill people by touch (or them touching him) and yes......a terrible musical score that seem to repeat itself every 2 or 3 minutes (no matter what was going on)
I highly recommend this flick. Hell, it's only 58 minutes- not even enough time to really get nausiated

Yeah it was pretty much impossible to find before it started popping up on FMC (I think if I can remember) THe kid on the beach is really the kid who went on to play Eddie Munster in the Munsters just to mention it. Enjoyable flick not the best but at least they pulled it out again.

This sounds like my kind of film, but its the kind you won't see on TV or the local Video store. Drats!!!!!

Luckily, this movie IS on TV.  My friend (the guy that intitiated this thread)  just taped it 2 nights ago. If I recall correctly, it was on Fox's movie channel (is that right, Dr, XYZ?).  Perhaps it will be re-run.   Check out your channel guide, if you have cable!   This movie is a riot!  A scientist gets infected by some "nerve gas" and turns into charcoal. Anyone that he touches, or touches him is instantly char-broiled. He flees in horror. To disguise himself, he puts on a trench coat and a fedora (ala the Elephant Man) then attempts to walk around in L.A. in broad daylight (*not* ala the Elephant Man). He doesn't bother hiding his charcoal face or hands.   He staggers around in LA for a bit, accidentally killing people.  He climbs in the back seat of a Taxi and orders the non-horrified driver to take him to "muaaaghhhh!!".    Meanwhile, the police get on  **LIVE television** and tell everyone in California to be on the look-out for the hapless, deadly scientist, **giving a full description of him**: "looks like charcoal, head and hands three times their normal size.  DO NOT TOUCH THIS MAN!  CONTACT IS FATAL!" At the same time, the police are telling the **local newspapers** that they can not print any info about the scientist, because they don't want to start a panic.     hahaha!
