I just watched Satan's Sadists last night, it was pretty cool.  I found it very entertaining.  I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for any other Al Adamson movies (preferably ones that aren't completely about how horny us women can be like the naughty stewardesses)  This is the only film of his I have seen thus far and I want to get better acquanted with his work.

You just saw his best movie. I can't recommend anything else by the man.

I SPIT ON YOUR CORPSE (aka GIRLS FOR RENT) is basically the same kinda plot as SATAN'S SADISTS. Porn actress Georgina Spelvin plays the Russ Tamblyn role and is just as sadistic & vicious. I liked this movie for the cheap shlock it is.

You might want to check out DRACULA VS FRANKENSTEIN just to see what all the hype is about. You'll either like it or hate it. I like it. =)

Stay away from FIVE BLOODY GRAVES!!!!

BRAIN OF BLOOD, which is out on DVD through Image Entertainment with a great commentary track by producer Sam Sherman. Go for it.

Brother Ragnarok

Definitely Brain of Blood, which you can also find on the used 99cent rack at the local video store under the titles Brain Damage or The Undying Brain, and probably a few others, too.  Check out my review of The Undying Brain at our site The Brotherhood of Bad Movies:  www.cinemasodomy.com.  Hooray for shameless plugs!
And I actually liked Five Bloody Graves.  I think I'm the only person in the world who actually likes these sleazy, grainy exploitation movies as entertainment in their own right and not just something to make fun of.

Personally, I would stay far away for the old video releases of BRAIN OF BLOOD. While the film was released under it's original title via Magnum Video, other companies began releasing the 16mm television titled version THE CREATURE'S REVENGE on video. The 16mm television version also was released on video as THE BRAIN, BRAIN DAMAGE, and THE UNDYING BRAIN!

Stay away from those releases and stick with the Image DVD release, which was taken from the ORIGINAL UNCUT 35mm NEGATIVE! The color and image is better than the old video releases. But if you can't get the DVD, then search for the Magnum Video release instead. Just stay away from the various re-titled versions.

My problem with him is that you can tell he's just going for the quick buck.  Which is cool, but Ed Wood really thought "plan 9" was as good as Citizen Kane which makes his movies seem more crazy

I know what you mean lester, I was watching the Sam guy (the guy he worked with) his interview on the "Sadists" dvd and he basically said he was in it for the cash.  But alas, most film-makers are.  I am really annoyed by that song in sadists, "it is better to have loved and lost than to never love at all" it has been stuck in my head for the last few days and it is annoying.  It is accompanied by the scene in the movie it was with, of Gina riding the bike for like 769698 years before committing suicide.  Arg song stop!  But thanks guys for your opinions, after finals week, finding these movies is on.

Since I'm partial to Al Adamson's horror movies, I'd recommend checking out ANY of them, just for the fun of it. Regardless of whether one thinks most of his movies are low-budget, trashy cheese or not, they're simply fun to watch (perhaps FOR the cheese factor), but in any case, that's why I like them. Some are better than others, of course, but each is fun in its own right.

DRACULA VS FRANKENSTEIN is generally considered the popular fave of Al's horror flicks, but my personal fave is BLOOD OF DRACULA'S CASTLE. Also check out BRAIN OF BLOOD, as others here have suggested....it's fun seeing supporting Adamson regular Angelo Rossitto as a twisted little dwarf assistant (something he somewhat perfected in all those films he made with Bela Lugosi). BLOOD OF GHASTLY HORROR is probably the strangest of the bunch, simply because Al and his producer/friend Sam Sherman recut the film and added new footage over a period of seven years or so, before it ultimately became BOGH.

Another strange patchwork film is DOCTOR DRACULA.....just weird. NURSE SHERRI is actually an interesting little cross between several other films of the period, most notably THE EXORCIST and CARRIE.....but if you catch SHERRI on dvd, stick with the "horror" version on the disc. It's better than the alternate, previously unseen "erotic cut". Sam told me awhile back that it he felt SHERRI would work better as a horror film, and had the movie recut and the additional horror footage added. He was right....works much better as a horror flick.

HORROR OF THE BLOOD MONSTERS is actually a lot of fun also, even considering that at least half the footage came from a Philipino vampire movie called TAGANI. As far as Al's "patchwork" efforts, I think the combination of the TAGANI footage and the new footage shot by Al works best here.

If you do happen to catch up with BLOOD OF DRACULA'S CASTLE, stick with the original theatrical cut and not the reedited television print titled simply DRACULA'S CASTLE. After Sam and Al lost control and rights over BODC, it had additional footage added for television....footage which neither Sam nor Al had no control or authorization over. The added footage makes Robert Dix's character of Johnny out to be a werewolf! This is completely wrong.....the footage is typical cheesy 60's/70's era fun.....but it has absolutely NOTHING to do with what the character was originally made out to be, which was simply a demented, perverse psychopath (and Johnny works much better that way also).

You can check out more complete info about all the films I mentioned on my AL ADAMSON HORROR FILMS CELEBRATION SITE, which includes a complete page devoted to the alternate tv version of BODC.

I saw "Dracula vs. Frankenstein" a while back... I didn't think it was quite the howler it was made out to be, but it was still cheesy fun. Personally, when it comes to mildly sleazy, no-budget carnival monster flicks, I prefer Ray Dennis Steckler's "The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living And Became Mixed Up Zombies."

The Burgomaster

He made a really bad action film in the 1970s called BLACK HEAT (aka THE MURDER GANG). I think I still have it on VHS somewhere (all my VHS tapes have been in storage ever since I switched to DVD).

I also have NURSE SHERRI (although, my version is called BLACK VOODOO . . . they tried to release a bunch of Al Adamson films on tape and pass them off as blaxploitation movies, even though there are only 1 or 2 African Americans in each one).
