Terror indeed. This is one of my recent purchases. I have to first clear up some things about the title. The house isn't haunted(except by bad memories, and worse acting). There really isn't one single terrifying scene in the whole flick(or every scene is terrifying if, again, you factor in the acting).
Mostly the protagonists sit around and talk about their feelings. The heroine emotes and screams...ALOT. The hero, makes snarky face at the camera and generally just looks altogether oily(I felt dirty watching him). The one saving grace about tis s**t-bomb is that it was filmed in "MIND ALTERING....PSYCHORAMA!!!!!" Yup, this is one of those 50's flicks with the subliminal messages in it. Now, I've never seen a flick that used "subliminal communication" before, so , I don't know how successful it was in other films. I do know that, other than a source of ammusement, it failed here. See, the subliminal flashes all said something along the lines of.."Scream!!" or "Prepare to scream" or "Scream bloody murder". Sadly, aside from the aforementioned heroine, there were no screams to be had in this flick. I mean they didn't even try to be scary. But, the pictures that accompanied the subliminal messages were friggin' funny. And, Rhino Video inserted two subliminal messages of their own, near the end of the movie. All in all a pretty good stinker, if you have patience. I got quite a few laughs from the acting alone.

Everyone has potentially fatal flaws, but yours involve a love of soldiers' wives, an insatiable thirst for whiskey, and the seven weak points in your left ventricle.

Johnny Legend actually RECREATED the subliminals for TERROR IN THE HAUNTED HOUSE......those supposedly are NOT the original ones that were there when the film was first released.

Go figure....

Well, I definitely picked up on two at the end, they actually mentioned Rhino Video. And one message was totally different from the rest, so, perhaps it was an original. Who knows. Either, it was fairly satisfying, on a totally bad level.

Yea, I seen this one about 2 years ago and liked it. Where was it filmed California or Florida? That Psychorama was really something else.

I bought TERROR IN THE HAUNTED HOUSE about 12 - 15 years ago (I think it was from Rhino). I wonder if it has the same subliminals as the version you have?

"Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me the hell alone."
