Anyone seen this Clint Eastwood film called JOE KIDD?

The Burgomaster

Yes. It is considered to be a good western, but I am not a big fan of it. There are a few memorable scenes, but it just doesn't stir me up the same way that westerns like THE WILD BUNCH, SHANE, THE MAN WHO SHOT LIBERTY VALANCE, THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN, RIO BRAVO, TRUE GRIT and a few others do.

John Saxon plays the villain, which should tell you something about the movie . . .

John Sturges (THE GREAT ESCAPE and many other top action fims) directed it, so I guess I was expecting it to be more intense and exciting.

If you're an Eastwood fan, go ahead and watch it. You might like it.

"Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me the hell alone."

Neville

It is wittier than the usual early westerns starring Eastwood, thanks to the script by Elmore Leonard, and althought the final result is a bit disappointing it is still quite good. Robert Duvall plays another villain.
Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.
