Aside from any jokes about Canada (we gave you Shania Twain, you may not insult us), is anyone aware of indie studios in Ontario?  I'd be interested in getting my foot in somewhere now...gotta get famous someday, and today seems good.  And since I doubt Paramount will help me produce my films, I reckon indie is the way to go for now.

Stupid jacob

I remember hearing TVO sometimes help out people in your predictament.

Greywizard, The Unknown Movies

Unless your film is about lesbian angst, you'd best forget about making a movie in Canada. The Canadian indies depend on money from the government, and the only movies the Canadian government likes to fund are the kind usually nobody (Canadian or not) wants to see.

... Except for "Cube," which was a pretty fun Canadian movie made on a small budget. Don't remember who else might have financed the movie, though.

In the early nineties, there was some truly great indie animation coming out of Canada -- enough to warrant its own tournee.

Stefan Robak

A Canadian movie that I liked was "The Wrong Guy"  starring and co-written by Dave Foley.  It's a spoof of the Fugitive that's much better than "Wrongfully Accused".   It was kind of a dumb fun comedy and I've always liked Dave Foley.  Feature Jennifer Tilly as his narcoleptic love interest.

Well I know there must be some small production comanies out there in Ontario. The amazing movie Clutch was made out by Ottowa (im sure) and it was a fine reflection that government funded movies arent all about boring homo-empathetic sappy tripe.
