I just saw this last night and I am so glad good B-Movies are being made. It was a fun, ridiculous and poorly acted piece of crap that belongs on this website.

The deaths were so corny, especially when the man is literally cut in half. There were some good scenes and the make up was incredible, but Tony Shalloub, should never be allowed to cuss again. He doesnt fit right.

I just wish more people had died. Especially the kid, he was the most obnoxious child and stupidest character since the girl in Aliens.

The black woman was excellent. I havent seen such corny, racially insensitive, bad timed lines for awhile. Three slimes.

Has anyone seen the original?

I also reccomend the DVD, becasue it has some great special features involving makeup and also even explains each of the ghosts in comic book like detail. It is a great DVD, worth owning I think.

And yes, this one deserves a review.

Most of them deserved it. I think the happy ending ruined a fun and really enjoyable little flick. Still, a hell better than "Ghost Ship" or "Hause on haunted hill".
Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

I liked House on Haunted Hill, but this one takes the cake. Has anyone seen the original????

Yeah, I think the original was the first movie my parents took me to that I remember...it was 3D!!! You had to put on the blue-and-red glasses whenever the screen went bichromatic.

It was pretty damn hokey...the scariest scene was when the doorbell rang, and there was nobody there...then, appearing SUDDENLY...an innocuous postman. Dunno why that one made me jump. Hell, I was like, 5 or something.

The tip-off of being cued to put on your 3D glasses kinda took the bite out of the 3D monster scenes, though...

the 59 original had great 3D polaroid effects, too bad they dont re-release em like that for home distribution.  The supporting talent of the wickid witch and Martin Milner was nice, but the 2001 house made up for lack O' 3DEvan3 wrote:

I hate this one just like when I saw the remake of House On Haunted Hill. William Castle must be rolling in his grave knowing his daughter Terry  is messing up his work. I like  the original on both their alot better.

I saw it on AMC a few years ago, it was NOTHING like the remake. My memory is a little sketchy, but I seem to recall that it was about a family living in a normal house that just happened to be haunted. I don't remember the ghosts having any real impact on the story though, just scenes of the different members of the family watching them for no apparent reason. Of course I didn't see it in 3D, just as a normal film and unless I'm remembering it wrong, the ghosts were basically just shadows on the walls. No gore, no deaths, more like an episode of The Patty Duke Show with ghosts.

As a young boy "13 Ghosts" (the original, obviously) scared the heck out of me.  When all the ghosts ganged up on the bad guy at the end, my blood turned cold.  For a long time I thought this was a really frightening ghost movie.

There was also the interesting idea of the lion's spirit haunting the cage area.  Sort of neat.
