This may sound a bit daft, since there's a very good chance I just hallucinated this, but when I was young (I know, I know, I'm 20, but it's a relative thing) I remember seeing a movie (or possibly just an hour program, not too sure) on TV one weekend afternoon.  It involved a kid in a museum with a huge dragon prop.  The kid hid behind it and listened to some sinister men discuss their eeeevil plan, whatever that was, and then the dragon came to life and the kid flew away on it.  If shadowy memory serves, the dragon was something of an a***ole, too.  Any takers?

No, havent seen any such movie, but it sounds like Never Ending Story or similar to... (I've seen only the first one and they had no dragon in that one but maybe the other parts do...)

I do remember seeing a movie where some kids were ported from a picture to a Aurthor like world (and then no dragon in that movie... )

I've seen all the Never Ending Stories.  Well, actually I shut the third one off about halfway through because I just couldn't take it, and that's saying something.  It's not any of the NES (hmm...same acronym as Nintendo.  It's a CONSPIRACY!) flicks.  Thanks, though.

I remember this movie but I can't remember the name of it.

It's about a boy who has a talent for making little mechanical things and puppets. His dream is to work for Jim Henson's Creature Shop (you know, the guys who made the creatures in Dark Crystal, Labyrinth etc).

The kid gets his wish and is shown a huge animatronic Dragon in the back of the shop. At the end it comes alive and saves him from the sinister men that you mentioned.

It's over 10 years ago that I saw this film but for some reason it stuck in my mind... I'd love to find out what it is called too!

Sounds like D.C. Cab!!! Well, obviously I'm talking about the super-extra-platinum-4 diamond-plus sized-directors cut!

Everyone has potentially fatal flaws, but yours involve a love of soldiers' wives, an insatiable thirst for whiskey, and the seven weak points in your left ventricle.
