I'd wait if I were you. I heard Anchor Bay's gonna do another deluxe DVD release. Maybe they'll do as many releases of this as "Evil Dead" or "Army of Darkness."

Dawn's quite easily available in the UK. We've already got two DVD versions out, and a third coming in a week, with possibly the worst box cover I've seen for a modern release

Ebay has some, but you'll probably end up paying $60 or more, even if it is a used copy. Wait for the Anchor Bay release.

Jesus Christ, sixty bucks on eBay?  I got the uncut two tape VHS with all the foreign trailers and radio spots for like fifteen bucks at Target a few years ago.
And dammit, the House of 1000 Corpses soundtrack got pushed back AGAIN!

It airs on the pay channels occasionally.

Apparently, Anchor Bay Entertainment is going to release DAWN OF THE DEAD on a 3-disk "Special Edition" DVD set that will contain the Theatrical Cut (which is Romero's preferred cut), the Original Longer Cut that was shown at the Cannes Film Festival (which, I might add, was claimed to be Romero's "Director's Cut"), and the Italian release ZOMBI version. Other extras are said to be audio commentary, trailers, interviews, etc.

Okay, now for some bad news. This 3-disk set was supposed to come out during the Fall of 2003. Anchor Bay has pushed it back to Spring of 2004. Yet, Anchor Bay's new DVD of DAY OF THE DEAD, which has been taken from a new transfer of the recently discovered 35mm negative, will be available on the Fall of 2003.

Still, I am looking forward to DAWN OF THE DEAD. Just have to wait until 2004.

The new "Dawn Of The Dead" remake will be released in spring 2004 - You think Anchor Bay has delayed the 3 DVD set so it can be tied into the big-screen update/remake of Dawn of the Dead (which is slated for release spring 2004)? I think so - I bet AB will have 1 free movie ticket inside the 3 DVD set for the new remake. Think American Pie DVD with the free ticket for American Pie 2...kinda scary.

Well PoorLogic, it's possible that Anchor Bay delayed it so it can be released when the remake will hit the theatre. But then, I am NOT ENTHUSED about the DAWN OF THE DEAD remake and I'll bet the copies of the original will sell better while the remake will fail. Just a guess.

I do wish Anchor Bay could jump on the bandwagon and capitolize on a few more releases. I mean, with the last upcoming LORD OF THE RINGS installment you would think Anchor Bay would start releasing MEET THE FEEBLES and BRAINDEAD. Comon Anchor Bay!

PoorLogic

The idea of a remake of "Dawn of the Dead" just seems pointless - if it ain't broke, why try to fix it?

As for Anchor Bay, I agree - they should work to have the releases out by the time the orginal director's new film comes out (if in the case, they haven't already annouced a release date - a 7 month delay in Dawn is pretty crappy thing to drop on people). In the case of Peter Jackson and "Meet the Feebles", I think Anchor Bay might of run into trouble with Dead-Alive Productions, who has already released Feebles in the US. I notice they have taken down all info down from their "Cooming Attractions" page...interesting.

I love Anchor Bay, I own at least 70 of their releases and know that I would not have as many Fulci films on DVD if it wasn't for them. That being said, I'm sick of all the re-releases (Army of Darkenss, Halloween, now Manhunter!), I know that I should just ignore it and that my purchasing power is the only way to effect thier sales. If I don't like the re-releases and other's feel the same way, the title won't sell - therefore will prevent future idea's about  re-releasing the same old crap with a new cover.

Anchor Bay, we didn't need a 4th "release of Army of Darkness". What we did need was a remastered release of Fulci's "Zombie" - instead of a simple reprint of the out of print DVD.

Oh, I agree. But acording to Anchor Bay, they have re-released ARMY OF DARKNESS again due to it's popular demand (yeah, I'm quite suprised). After their two-disk "Limited Edition" DVD of the Theatrical Cut and Director's Cut sold like hotcakes, they jumped the bandwagon again and released the Director's Cut two more times due to the demand. After that, more demands for ARMY OF DARKNESS flooded Anchor Bay and decided to re-release the first "Limited Edition" under the subtitle "Boomstick Edition". The same can be said for HALLOWEEN and MANHUNTER.

As for Lucio Fulci's ZOMBIE, I just heard that Shriek Show is planning to release it in it's original aspect Techniscope 2.35:1 in anamorphic format, taken from the original vault materials under it's ZOMBI 2 moniker. I am looking forward to this upcoming release.
