This month I have decided that every month I will only purchase a certain genre of movies to add to my collection.  The genre I have chosen this month is Martial Arts (since I'm taking a Kung fu class this quarter in school.  However I do not know what films I should purchase and which ones I should avoid so I would like to ask  for some suggestions.

Oh and I have anothe request.  A few years back there was this one martial arts movie that came on almost every saturday afternoon.  All I remember is that the hero would train by being tied to tees and bending them and at the end he wound up breaking all of the villains limbs and punching him off of the screen.  I think it had Bruce Li in it.  I was wondering if anyone had the foggiest idea what the name of this movie is.

Thanks

Well that was fun...in a f****in' sick, terrible, not at all fun kinda way.

Wu-Tang collection is awesome.

Shaw Brothers films also rock the kung fu world. (check out 5 Deadly Venoms!)

The Once Upon a Time in China series is ALL worth buying.

jackie chan movies are always pretty good. Or Story Of Ricky for the insane gore.

It's not a bad film by any means but if you haven't seen it (or even if you have) I highly recommend "Legend of Drunken Master" starring Jackie Chan.

That movie has some of the most amazing martial arts sequences ever captured on film!

Just buy anything with Chuck Norris or Michael Dudikoff in it!!!!!!!!!!! It's time for some ninja magic! Abracadabra!!!!!

Gentlemen. You can't fight in here. This is the War Room!
~ President Merkin Muffley in "Dr. Strangelove"

The Burgomaster

Some of these are obvious, but . . .

MUST HAVE:

* ENTER THE DRAGON
* RETURN OF THE DRAGON
*THE CHINESE CONNECTION
* FISTS OF FURY
* KUNG FU (pilot for the television series)
* THE STREETFIGHTER
* FIVE FINGERS OF DEATH
* LEGEND OF THE SEVEN GOLDEN VAMPIRES
* SNAKE FIST FIGHTER

AVOID:

* THE 36 CRAZY FISTS
* THE GAME OF DEATH (99% of the movie is a Bruce Lee double, who looks nothing like Bruce Lee)
* SNAKE FIST DRAGON (see above - SNAKE FIST FIGHTER is good, SNAKE FIST DRAGON is bad)

*
*

I mentioned Ninja Champion before, and will reiterate my point.  Get as many Godfrey Ho and Thomas Tang movies as you can find.  These guys make Roger Corman look like Stanley Kubrik ;)  Especially the aforementioned N.C., and Robo Vampire.   bbm.monoperative.net/reviews/robovampire.html for a review that needs to be fixed, apparently.

I'm way into Fist of the White Lotus and the Master Killer, both starring Gordon Lui.

The Wu tAng collection has some big highs and some low lows.  Yu got Drunken Wu Tang.  I think we'd all agree that was a great choice.  "The Stomp" and "Shaolin and Wu Tang 2: Wu Tang Invasion" are both great.
