The Burgomaster

I visited yet ANOTHER local Wal-Mart store yesterday and they had a HUGE bin (I'd say it was about 4' x 4' x 4') full to the top of DVDs for $5.88 (of course, there were about 30 copies of ERNEST GOES TO CAMP, 30 copies of ERNEST: SCARED STUPID, etc.)

Anyway, after about 20 minutes of digging (and elbowing other shoppers in the chops), I emerged with some trashola favorites:

* THE TOWERING INFERNO
* THE PUNISHER
* RAMBO: FIRST BLOOD PART II (a 2 disc set to boot!)

I immediately went home and watched THE PUNISHER (which I had not seen for many years), followed by RAMBO ("Do we get to win this time?")

Coincidentally, the director of THE PUNISHER is the same guy who was the film editor for RAMBO. (2 strikes against him . . . nice to see his work goes straight to the $5.88 bin).

Wow, good finds.  All I seem to ever see are Ernest movies and Carnivore.

I got an Andy Griffith collection that has eight episodes, but the weird part is, they don't play the Andy Griffith theme music, just some weird canned electronic stuff.
I guess they didn't have the rights or something.

Dolph Lundgren

Awesome finds there, Burgo.  Rambo and The Punisher are definite favorites of mine.  In fact, I'm gonna say that The Punisher is my personal favorite comic book-to-movie adaptation of all time, right up there with the Blades and X-Men.  Let's just hope that the new Punisher movie is going to be half as good as this one was.  I don't know if the dude from Deep Blue Sea (Thomas Jane, IIRC) can quite hold up to Dolph's masterful performace as Frank Castle, but we'll see.  Either way, good finds, hope you enjoy 'em.

I've picked up the following at Wal-Mart fof $5.88:

IRON MONKEY 2
CARNIVORE
LAWNMOWER MAN
SUBURBAN COMMANDO
BLUE THUNDER
OMEGA DOOM/BLIND FURY
BATMAN: THE MOVIE (60's)
SHOWDOWN IN LITTLE TOKYO

And I know I'm forgetting one or two others but for the life of me I don't recall what.

Foywonder:

I bought the 60s version of BATMAN when it was first released on DVD and I think I paid about $19.95 for it (talk about getting raped).

I also picked up BLUE THUNDER for $5.88 at Wal-Mart a couple of weeks ago. In addition, I got ALTERED STATES and GROSS ANATOMY. Keep 'em coming!
