THE SHOOTIST (1976) - Starring John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, Ron Howard, Lauren Bacall, John Carradine. This was an interesting film to say the least. John Wayne in his last movie. Its a movie about a gunfighter who has cancer while in real life Wayne was battling cancer. If you like John Wayne then you have to see this movie. The movie seems to reveal how he felt about the West and Gunfighters.

EL DORADO (1967) - This one also stars John Wayne along with Robert Mitchum. I really enjoyed this film all the way through. I've seen the ending a couple times, but never the whole film till now.

JACK*** (2002) - This film is insane. The paper cuts were the hardest to watch. I really liked the beginning and end scenes they created. Characters like Johnny Knoxville and Steve O and the rest are really just to much.

I love "The shootist"! It was one of the Duke's very last movies, and it feels like an homage to Wayne and the characters he played (Remember the stock footage at the beginning?). Hell, it is almost an "Unforgiven" precedent! Don Siegel, the man who directed it was Eastwood's mentor, and some scenes are quite similar. I tend to think the supporting actors are a bit wasted, but I was pleasantly surprised with Ron Howard's performance (he is the kid who makes friends with Wayne). This man should have never quit acting.

Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

The Burgomaster

I have both The Shootist and El Dorado in my DVD collection . . . both are good choices.

As for your "searching" list, I also have On the Beach. I saw it on DVD in Circuit City not too long ago for around $10.

Good one Burgo ! My movie marathons must be completed though. I'm on a mission.

Rooster Cogburn: "FILL YOUR HAND,YOU SON OF A b***h!"

"Aggressivlly eccentric, and proud of it!"
