Just saw this flick Friday night, going again on Monday.  Yes, I know, it's as much The Hills Have Eyes as House of 1000 Corpses is Texas Chainsaw, and there's very little character development and blah blah blah PEOPLE DIE.  And they die HARD.  Go see this movie a lot.  The more ticket sales, the more people realize, "Hey, there's an audience for GOOD horror movies!  Maybe we should make some more of those..."

Too late. It's a total box office bomb.

Glad you enjoyed yourself so much but it really is just a generic slasher film.

Fangoria gave it 2 and a half skulls out of four, saying that while it was nice to see a straight horror movie that played its plot out without self referencing jokes and with a stroke of nasty.  Nonetheless it was nothing that any one familiar with the genre had not seen before but, if it had been released in the 70s, it would be considered a classic today.

I look forward to seeing it.

I don't know about that. It at least would have had the advantage of having been a slasher movie before slasher movies became common place.

Sorry, got the quote wrong.  They said it would have cleaned up at the box-office 20 years ago.  Sadly the movie was just dumped into theaters with very little hoopla.  Still, 5 million against Finding Nemo isn't that bad.  Pretty standard opening for a traditional horror movie.  Horror openings usually range in the 3 to 9 million opening dollar range, unless it's a franchise or something high profile (i.e. Hannibal, etc.).

Here's the review-

A friend of mine hated it.  To me it looks worth a pay-per-view or VOD rental.

i'd disagree. it's currently listed as number 8 on the weekend's top ten list. not bad for a flick that got no theater previews, no talk-show push, and no pre-release reviews...plus it's about killer cannibals...not exactly box office friendly subject matter...

it's made more than half of the IN-LAWS take...which received tons of promo push and stars two well known actors.
