Coffin Joe: At Midnight I'll Take Your Soul (1963)

COFFIN JOE: AT MIDNIGHT I'LL TAKE YOUR SOUL (1963) - Good horror film from Brazil about a dispictable character called Coffin Joe (or Ze). He is really cruel to people and kills four people for his own selfish reasons. The best scenes are the beginning with the old witch warning people about seeing the movie. The DVD shows the movie trailers to  three Coffin Joe films that are available. There is  non-stop screaming and also has a good interview with the director and star of the film. The second Coffin Joe film AT MIDNIGHT I'LL POSSESS YOUR CORPSE looks like the best one with all kinds of really horrific scenes. Coffin Joe is a horror icon in Brazil. Coffin Joe is rather philosophical about it all.

The second Coffin Joe movie is a bit more "polished" than the first one (it appears that the second movie had a bigger budget, so it has a nicer look to it).  I still think the first one is creepier (the lower budget probably adds to the creepiness).

I can understand what you mean by more "polished" Burgomaster. Kinda like EVIL DEAD II is more polished than EVIL DEAD or DESPERADO is more polished than EL MARIACHI. Better budget.

I really did like AT MIDNIGHT I'LL TAKE YOUR SOUL. The trailer to the second one looked interesting also.

the documentary about him is ill. I saw it and a few of his movies a whil back

He made a film that wasn't so successful. It was called AT MIDNIGHT I WILL CUT MY FINGER NAILS.
