Trying to find movie title

Hi gang.   I'm trying to recall a movie from my youth.  The images I remember bring to mind something along the lines of one of the Doug McClure movies, yet it's not Earth's core, or People or Land time forgot, or warlords of atlantis.    This film would have come out between 1965 and 1978 (a guess).    The image I recall is a wooden ship (like a pirate ship) stuck in a sargasso sea environment(But on a soundstage) .    They travelers could actually walk across the stuff the ship was stuck in.  The background/sky was a scary red and black.   I recall seeing it on HBO in the late seventies (Ithink),  and definitely on those saturday afternoon creature feature type shows.   If you can recall this B movie, please email me at  timmerred5@yahoo.com
