BIRTH OF A NATION (1915) - Seen it the other day. It's a masterwork of its time. Silent film about the Civil War of coarse. I'm sure this movie pushed some buttons as it wasn't very politically correct, but they warn the audience that they were going to show the dark side of things at the beginning of the film. The film didn't do much for me. It was 2 hours long. Quite lengthy for a silent film. Image that its only about years after the events. Fresh in the memory of living people of 1915. If your into the history of film then this is ok.

I heard it was REALLY racist, so I don't want to see, I heard it was good but still...

I saw this in a film class about 2 years ago. It is EXTREMELY racist, but every true film fan should see it at least once for its historical value.
