I thimk I'm gona BArgh!(bLAWWWWWWW!!!!!!    ~_-_~) anyone on Badmovies.org listen go to UGO.Com and read their Hump Digest. This is gonna make you sick and cry!  A.) James Cameron is gonna to make more stupid underwater and slow movies for awhile.
b.) Alien vs. Predator is gonna be directed by no other than...................................................................bum-dum-dee-duum.......................................... ....................................................................................Paul Anderson. Who is he welllllllllll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He directed Event Horizion(wince). He also directed Mortal Combat(shock!) ,Soldier(...), Shopping, and Resident Evil(gasp). This is a very bad British one there is another Paul but that is Irrelevant. He is in Post Production of  Aliens Vs. Preadator of being the director. Now you tell me is there any better low budget director out there to do the comic justice. Of course we watch these types of movie anyways. I have no idea of what is goin on. It must be the samething with sci fi channel showing mostly Psychics, infomercials, and Sciene stuff on Conspiracy. When is the sci fi channel called conspiriasies-r-us

You are...a very incoherent person.  I think I understand what you're talking about, and frankly, I disagree.  Paul Anderson does great camp, and I think that's what the final Alien movie should be--camp.  I mean, it's already so close to it anyway after Resurrection, why not just make the leap?  And it's a CROSSOVER, no less!  I say just go for it.

I think -=Nights=- & I are about the only people on this board who actually don't mind Paul Anderson's work.

I think most people here would lynch him if they could.

I myself could never understand why everyone here hates him so much.

They rant & rant & rant but they never really say anything constructive...just how much everyone hates him and the films he's made...I just don't get it.

I think he's a decent director.

I like every single film he's directed!

I don't have anything against him. I liked Mortal Kombat, Event Horizon and Resident Evil (I never played the games, so I had no idea what to expect beyond zombies).

It doesn't bother me that he's directing AvP, what bothers me is the idea of setting it on Earth in modern times. That's like thumbing your nose at the continuity of the Alien movies. I've also heard that the Predators don't show up until late in the film, which is also a mistake. Set it on another planet in the future (doesn't matter when as long as it's after the original films) and have the Predators show up early on.

I've never read any of the AvP books or comics, but what I'd like to see is the humans form an uneasy alliance with the Predators against the Aliens. I don't mean they should talk and come to an agreement, just that both sides come to the conclusion that the Aliens are a big enough problem by themselves without fighting another species at the same time.

i, myself think paul anderson is a great director.  this is also despite the fact that i know that mortal kombat and resident evil were cheapish crappy movies that made room for a sequel [resident evil really s**tted me in this regard] but despite that i really liked both films.  he has a very distinctive visual style that really would work in the AVP film.

all that is needed is a big budget, get anderson to clean up his style [not so cheap; event horizon was probably his most professional in technical style] and a good screenplay.

i would hate it if they decided to set it on earth at all, modern times or not.

if anyone knows the AVP pc games, i think they'd agree that the general story for that is much MUCH better than say, set in antartica.

for those who don't know i'll try and summarize the plot of one of the PC games [there are two but i don't know the first]

ok...  a bunch of humans have discovered a planet with some aliens on it, and despite all instincts saying 'get the f**k out of there' they decide to set up a scientific research place there.  you see, the aliens are living around these really ancient ruins, and us humans want to check them out.  as it turns out there's an artifact there that can seemingly control the aliens [or at least keep them at bay] and lots of cool ancient technology lying around.

where do the predators fit in with this?  well as silly as it might seem for a movie [it fits in much better in the game]  this planet has been an ancient hunting ground for predators for centuries, kind of like a rite of passage thing.  think of it like predator 2 except there's more of them, more aliens and less danny glover.
but here's the kicker...  those ancient ruins aren't the predator's ruins, but some other mysterious alien that has no mention in the game whatsover.

this would give the makers of AVP a great way to introduce a new species in the series, done with the proper amount of care of course, and apply the right amount of mystery into the film. [ i really wanted to know who the hell those ruins were made by but it was never revealed]

of course added into this is the fact that the aliens are p**sed off at the humans for intruding on their space, the humans are p**sed off at the aliens for the fact that they are in the way to this cache of technological goodies, and the predators are p**sed off at everyone in general [especially the humans for stealing the mystery artifact and thus messing with centuries of culture.

the predators steal the artifact back, messing with the security systems of the research base, allowing the aliens to get in and attack
thus a chase is on for the human marine ppl to go after the predators who have the artifact, whilst both sides are dealing with s**tloads of aliens.

done properly i think this film will be great, but unfortunately it's shaping up to be fairly bad.

hopefully you are all praying for a well made movie that does leaps and bounds over aliens 3 and ressurection, both in budget, style and just kickass action [i think it would require a pretty big cast]

but unfortunately i am fairly negative about how the finished product will be; very few people are willing to take risks in a film any more and choose to play it safe, therefore ruining this film.

oh yeah, and sorry for the long thread, but i'm a big fan of the game, and the movies especially predator 2 [there was alot more of the predator] and aliens [come on, those marines were kickass!]

:D

I personally have enjoyed every single one of Paul Anderson's films.  Yes, they're stupid.  Yes, sometimes they're different from the original source.  But dammit, they're fun, and sometimes, that's what counts.

I think Anderson is a decent choice for a director of Aliens vs. Predator.  Of course, this job could've easily gone to Ronny Yu, who would do a great job with it.  Same goes for Steve Wang, director of the Guyvers and Drive.

At least Albert Pyun doesn't have his hands on this project.  It could definitely be worse.

I'm just waiting for Dunners to jump all over this thread.

HEY! I don't think the Avs.P movies should be about CAMP! OK!? They should be serious movies with MAYBE a littie bit of camp but I mean come on, I can't picture either the Alien sereis or the Predetor sereis being turned into camp movies. I kinda like Mortal Kombat, and Resident Evil wasen't TOO painful. I'd say this guy's an O.K. director but we need a GOOD director for this kind of movie..and where's Dunners by the way?

I like Paul Anderson's movies. I liked Soldier and Resident Evil. I have faith in him.

Dunners

Anderson is nothing but an idiot. but thats my opinion.

As if it was bad enough to have him write and direct AvP they WONT have Stan Winston back :(.

Dont know why they said no to him, but he was very upset about it. Thats three strikes against this movie already.

Heh hehI knew Dunners was gonna get into this topic.

Dunners

course I am. I AM a fan of the comic books. But I've already b***hed out Andersons worthless ass enough for this week :)

Gecko brothers

thank you
someone with some taste the RE was not that much fun. Watch the JC Ghost's on  Mars with Day of the Dead back to Back is more fun then watch the Matrix. You could get more fun out of that than the RE zombies. Come on they were dumber than a blonde in a joke.  The reason why I hate them is that I could save my money and watch better movies they aren't that much fun.

May I just note, for our good, barely understandable,  'Gecko Brothers' sake, that I never once said I enjoyed Paul Anderson's work.  I just noted the direction that the Alien franchise was going.  Predator was halfway there already, too.

Moo.

Kirk

Could be worse...

It could be Paul Verhoven.
