Best INTENTIONAL WTF ending

Some movie endings are meant to discombobulate and disorient.  (2001, anyone?)  And this ain't a bad thing.  Sometimes  a WTF ending is the best possible ending for a particular tale.

So what are your favorite WTF endings, the ones that left you scratching your head but satisfied?

Off the top of my head, I'd say Total Recall.  Is it reality?  Fantasy?  Coma?  We (and Arnie) will never know.  And maybe we don't know now (about our reality), either.

Totally frustrating.  And perfect.

I just watched Total Recall again, and was thinking of what a great ending that was. It was very much in the spirit of Philip K. Dick, even if it wasn't in his original story, We Can Remember It for You Wholesale. The original story, ended shortly after the agents came to Quail's apartment. The ending is quite different from that of Total Recall, and far cooler, but really not suitable for the movie.

A lot of what was added to the story was borrowed from other Dick stories, such as the mutants with psychic powers and the main character leaving clues for himself before his memory was erased. Other things, while not directly taken from Dick's work, dealt with some of his common paranoid themes.

Sorry if I strayed a bit from the topic at hand, but you made me think of something I had been meaning to post.

I never found the ending of 2001 confusing, but that was because I read the book before seeing the film.  It did allow me to explain to confused friends and colleagues just what the heck the film was about.

An intentional WTF ending?  Hmm.  Probably John Carpenter's "The Thing".  What happens next?  Is one of the two surviving characters a Thing?  How can we tell?  Do they know?  Did the director know?  WTF!!!!

They supposedly shot an alternate ending (which was never used) that showed Kurt being rescued and tested at a hospital and he was still human.
