The Hills Have Eyes -  Wes Craven produces, Alexandre Aja (Haute Tension) directs.    Read about it here.

The Fog - John Carpenter will be Executive Producer, but has now interest in directing it. Seems the first time around was a pain-in-the-ass. Rupert Wainwright (Stigmata) will direct.  The film will feature Selma Blair, Tom Welling , and Maggie Grace.

And you thought Trek isn't cool.

Okay, I'm always the first one to jump in and p**s and moan about remakes, but the Fog is one of those rare cases where I can actually get on board with the idea.  Not that I didn't like the first one, but every time I see it I can't help but think how much better it could have been.  A higher body count for one thing, and more sophisticated effects.  I'd like to see them get some actresses of the same caliber as the original (dunno who Maggie Grace is, but Selma Blair doesn't cut it).  Still, I think the Fog could have been a LOT scarier than it was the first time around.

Yes - this is a remake I will go and see!

Hills Have Eyes?  Saw it once a long time ago and have no strong feelings one way or the other.  I guess in principle it's probably a good thing to get more movies about cannibals out in theaters.

The Fog may be ok to redo but I can't agree with Hills Have Eyes. I can't see that they could make it any better. Will Michael Berryman be involved at all? He made that movie what it was and I honestly can't picture this. I wish they would just leave old movies alone. Ya know, I can't wait until about 10 years from now and then they could maybe remake Gigli...ah, life will be good.

I'm looking forward to the remake of The Hills Have Eyes.  As Odinn7 said, the original is certainly a classic -especially Michael Berryman- but I have nothing but the highest praise for Alexandre Aja's previous film Haute Tension .  The man can just pour out the stress/tension/horror and I think he's perfect for the job.

I don't really care either way about the Fog remake.  The original is so-so and it looks like the new one will be PG-13 so say goodbye to any hopes of a high bodycount.

A bald man named Savalas visited me last night in a dream.  I think it was a Telly vision.

I hate that there's alot more remakes right now

But as long as they're touching so-so films (The Fog) or just plain awful films (Amityville horror) I don't mind. Remake the crappy films and make them better but leave Texas Chainsaw massacre and Psycho alone

And a pet peeve is taking a good horror movies title like House of Wax and remaking it into Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2

Which leads me to a question, if I recall they're making a sequel of Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the remake) should they call it TCM 2 or 5?
