Walter Russell Stocker Jr.

Walter Russell Stocker Jr., 78, of Port Hueneme died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, in a Ventura hospital after a long illness.

Mr. Stocker was born Sept. 1, 1925, in Philadelphia, Pa., and had been a resident of Ventura County for nine years, coming from the San Fernando Valley. Mr. Stocker served during World War II in the Army Air Corps in the Philippines. He obtained a bachelor's degree from the University of Miami and then a master's degree from Columbia University. His career in teaching included High Point College in North Carolina and Lynchburg College in Virginia. He also served on the faculty of the University of Miami. Walter then entered the entertainment field as an actor in television, movies and plays. He modeled, was a voice man, and wrote scripts, screenplays and a novel. Walter also wrote the screenplay for a movie that he produced and directed. Walter was a very physically active person who loved the ocean, enjoyed swimming, scuba diving and running, and he frequented the gym. He enjoyed working on cars along with his sons and he loved his family.

He is survived by his wife and best friend of 53 years, Pamela Stocker of Port Hueneme; son Walter 'Russ' Stocker III and his companion, Carole Sharpley, both of Sherman Oaks; son and daughter-in-law Greg and Jona Stocker; grandson, Gregory Stocker of Stevenson Ranch; as well as many nieces, nephews, additional family members and good friends, who will miss him deeply.

A service will be held at noon Friday, Dec. 12, at Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura. Arrangements are under the direction of Ted Mayr Funeral Home, Ventura.
