Should I watch "House of 1,000 corpses" (2000)?

I mean, I am into horror and crapiness as many other people in this board, but I have a low tolerance for gore when it is not played for laughs. Otherwise, I have read a couple of reviews raving about this one, believe it or not. Oh, and it looks like the version released in my country (Spain) is gonna be the 105' full version, so maybe I should take the risk. What do you say?

Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

Mr_Vindictive

Probably gonna be gory if it is uncut.

I personally, still don't know how I feel about the film.  It had some fantastic moments; and really showed that Rob Zombie can seriously direct.  Some points felt rehased from other films and some scenes just fell flat.

If you like Texas Chainsaw Massacare and films of the same nature then check it out.  I guess that I just kept hearing the film get hyped and then was a little deflated by the final result.

A bald man named Savalas visited me last night in a dream.  I think it was a Telly vision.

Rob Zombie doesn't really know how to pace a movie or tell a story.  For all its gore, HOUSE doesn't have one iota of the creepiness or impact of the movies that influenced it.

However, the DVD menus are a hoot.

The movie is ok.I honestly thought Rob Zombie could have done something more original. Its mostly a rip off of Texas Chainsaw Massacre,Last house on the left, and The hills have eyes. The best part of this movie is the last 20 min, when you see DR. Satan and his creations.Rob Zombie definatly has a very cool style though and I still do hope he makes more movies, but I just hope there more orginal than House of a 1000 Corpses.

Smells like popcorn and shame

I did "not" enjoy it , but I watched the whole thing. I kinda liked when they arrive at the tourist trap, but didn't think the owner was so funny nor interesting.

It really lost me by the last 20-30 minutes.  I just wasn't interested in what was going on, even if it was gross.

Pepak

I found it too cheap, too shallow. Unlike the movies it imitated it was rather meaningless, with stuff happening just for the shock value (and while there were some gory moments, it was nowhere near the level of it in 70's horrors upon which HO1C is based). I was really irritated by HO1C contantly changing into a music video.

Mofo Rising

I enjoyed it.  Like most everybody else says, it is a rip off of classic 70's horror movies.  Imagine SCREAM if it was based off 70's flicks instead of 80's flicks.

It's popcorn cinema.  Not important in anyway whatsoever, but it does have a nice grunginess quality to it that you would expect from Rob Zombie.

Not really scary, but fun to watch if you like gore for gore's sake (which you said you did not).

Of course when I watched it I was drinking.  The end completely lost me, partly due to the fact that it goes over the top quite fast and I was drunk.

Worth renting to see the DVD menu, which consists of Sid Haig yelling at you to pick a goddamn choice already.  Funniest thing I've seen in a while.

Every dead body that is not exterminated becomes one of them. It gets up and kills. The people it kills, get up and kill.

To the naysayers, I say thee nay!  House rocked, even though it was basically Texas Chainsaw.  Still a helluva lot better TCM remake than the official remake, which made me want to vomit and kill people.  The crazy music video parts are explained in Rob's commentary track as little glimpses into the character's heads.  If you notice, they always pop up right before a shot of a character's face, kinda showing you what they're thinking about at the moment.  A couple of them are dreams, too.
And Neville, if you guys get the uncut version I'm going to be very jealous.
