TERROR IS A MAN (1959) - Philippine director Gerardo de Leon put together an effective Horror film here. The creature panther/man isn't the greatest, but it is the experiments on the creature that is disturbing in this movie. The film is effectively set on a small Island in the Philippines. A boat floats to the shore with a lone survivor of a ship explosion. Little by little he finds out what is going on and gets to see the experiments on the creature for himself. The lead actress Greta Thyssen is the center of a lot of the story and camera work. This one could compete with Universal horrors. The DVD also has a "Terror Bell" to warn you of the scene were they cut open the creature (probably a pig). The bell sounds like a ringing telephone or buzzer and I was wonder what in the world is that? Then I remembered the opening warning at the beginning of the film. The sound was to help you to close your eyes and open them when the "horrorific scene" was over. The Director is the same one who made the Blood Collection that has been on DVD recently. Another good Philippine Horror film.

I remember seeing this film when local TV was worth something, and not all syndicated by law, as it now seems.  Off topic, are there still any stations out there that are fully independant??
Anyway, Terror is a Man is good cruddy fun, especially for the doofy monster.

Some people like cupcakes better--I for one care less for them
