My wife is Russian and when I went there last time, I brought a DVD of Animal House and had her convinced this is the way college life really is everywhere in the USA. Who else has done something like that to people that were gullible or didn't know better? I feel so ashamed of myself. LOL

If it's on Cinemax past midnight, it has to be bad.

I've never used a film to trick anyone, but I have tricked people into watching films.
Some people (pity them) won't watch a certain type or genre of film, so we, as enthusiasts, must do what we must do to spread the word. deception is a fine tool, misdirection is key! Example:

Dead/Alive: A young man finds love while coming to terms with the recent death of his mother.

Not a lie, really, just a small omission of some minor plot points.

Everyone has potentially fatal flaws, but yours involve a love of soldiers' wives, an insatiable thirst for whiskey, and the seven weak points in your left ventricle.

Minor plot points!   Minor plot points!  The hell, man!  What the hell!

I know you were joking (I HOPE you were joking), but damn, man.  That's just wrong.  Droping someone unawares into Dead/Alive is cruel and unusual punishment.  The "Custard Scene" alone would get someone lynched.

Might as well say it's about a single father struggling to raise someone else's child.  Good God!

Dead/Alive really was a love story.
