PANIC IN YEAR ZERO ! (1962) - Haven't saw this one in 30 years. This b/w film was on AMC Friday morning and I taped it. Good Nuclear Holocast survival movie starring Ray Milland and Frankie Avalon. This is a very captivating film that shows civilzation gone crazy after a nuclear bombs hit Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, New York, Washington, Rome, etc. . This story follows a family heading out from L.A. on a camping trip when they see a flash of light. Another strong subject and good execution of a movie from the early 60's like THE SADIST (1963).

I caught this when it was on AMC, a nice time capsule of a film concerning Cold War fears of nuclear war. It was interesting to see a story told from the viewpoint of one family with little or no information about what is happening outside of their small area.

Pretty effective considering the obvious limited budget, stiff acting by some, and the cliched helpless female characters. Lots and lots of footage of traffic, humming tires, and speeding cars.

The Burgomaster

This is on my "haven't seen it, but would really like to get my hands on a copy" list.

"Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me the hell alone."

I've seen it twice. The first time, only part of it, then the second time all the way through. A memorable film. One that shows that even average people will do almost anything to survive in a world thrown into chaos.
