I have read all the negative reviews of this movie and I fail to see why nearly everyone blasted it with verbal photon torpedoes!
(er...I guess that the Federation is using quantum torpedoes now so I stand corected...hehe!)

I saw it when it was released and liked it.
I bought this recently and upon a couple more viewings I found myself liking it even more.

I personally think that the story is very well written and find the film as a whole extremely enjoyable!
It did take more than one viewing for me to truly appreciate it.

One point I wanted to note...if the metaphasic radiation generated by the planet's rings gave Geordi his sight back then why didn't it make Picard's hair grow back!?
He should've been sporting an afro by the film's end!

I know of the "odd numbered Star Trek films sucking rule" but I must sincerely disagree when it comes to this one.
Hell, I liked "Nemesis" and found it just as likeable.
Then again I'm a hardcore Trekker and love everything Trek.
Trek is incapable of sucking in my opinion!

Do you like this entry in the Star Trek series?
If you do not....why not?

I gotta admit, I liked Insurection.  IMHO, it's the best of the Next Generation movies.  The problem is, it doesn't have much competition -  out of three other movies, only one is really worth watching.

Generations was blow-tastic., and I mean that with all my heart.  The story was contrived and annoying.  Did it bother anyone else that this Nexus place was described as being like heaven and having been the happy home for more than a few folks for something like a milenia, but it only held Picard's intrest for, like, two minutes?  I mean, damn, even Kirk hung out for fifty years or so!

First Contact was pretty good.   Not great, but pretty good.  Zephram was annoying, and Troi's little drunk scene was embarassingly badly acted, but the plot wasn't bad, the Borg (although merely cheap Cyberman rip offs) were creepy, and  the acting was servicable.  It wasn't all that funny, but that was a good thing, I think.

Then there's Nemesis.  God.  I mean, GOD.  What a heaping pile of festering sewage.  Nemesis stunk like hot garbage on a Texas summer day.  Picard's clone-like-thingy - cliche' crap.  Romulus's moon Remus - unimaginative crap.  Reman Batpeople - ugly, ill-concieved crap with bad make-up.  Psychic rape scene - heartless, horrifying crap that really had little impact on the victim, for some unknown reason.  She seemed to counsel herself, there, didn't she?  Riker's final battle with a bad guy, but amazingly not the one who psychicly raped his wife - plodding, unexciting crap.

I could go on.  I really could.  There are at least a thousand reasons to hate Nemesis.

And it's STILL better than Star Trek 5:  Kirk Beats Up A God.

Hmmm, no offense Ash, but it sounds like you've bought into the hair replacement industry propaganda that male pattern baldness is a disease, rather than a perfectly natural process.

I can't say I liked Insurrection, mainly because I thought the story lacked scope. Most of the other Trek movies dealt with grand themes - Earth in danger several times, peace with the Klingons, TOS villain with a superweapon, Spock's death and resurrection, meeting of Kirk and Picard, invention of warp drive, etc. Insurrection was really disappointing, It was about people I didn't care about on a previously unheard-of planet I didn't care about. It might have made a fair episode, but it just wasn't movie material. I found it disappointing.

Likewise with Nemesis. With a few changes, it might have been a nice episode a few years ago, but it sucked as a movie. Actually, it probably would have sucked as an episode too.

I've said it before, I would not be surprised if both these movies were unused scripts from the series, dusted off and reworked as features.

This was nothing more than mediocre  tv episode with a bigger budget. I take grave exception to them using a great character like Worf for the comic relief.

And you thought Trek isn't cool.
