Most kids I know are terrified of toys that talk or dance. I know I was one of them.

Dirtcreature

I had a toy dalek from the television show Doctor Who...a friend who was a year younger than me when I first got was terrified of it.

It's all due, I suppose, to something so small sounding so big in comparison.

Ash

Well Chucky was a toy that talked....I liked him.

They never bothered me. I had a talking G.I. Joe, but you made him say different phrases by pulling out a string to different lengths and I could never get it to say what I wanted, WHEN I wanted.

My favorite thing about talking toys was getting the little record out of its innards. That was cool.

And you thought Trek isn't cool.

no, at all i when i was a kid  what  really scared me  was Porcelain dolls, with that face they looked like dead, im 28 now and i still i havent  recovered of that fear :).

a little freaky. Maybe it's because of the TW episode. back in MY day the only toys that talked came with a string you'd pull (70's), i really don't know what dolls do these days, i guess they all run on batteries and make a racket..just another way to take imagination out of the toy by having it do all the talking

"my name is talking tina, and I want to kill you"

My girlfriend had one of those "pull the string, says cute phrases" dolls.  On a couple of occasions she pointed it at me and pulled the string, but she held the string so it went in really slowly.  Honest to Cthulhu, what came out of the doll's voice unit was "I'm going to kill you" in a really slow, raspy demon voice.  A few days later, her dog ate the doll, and the horror was ended.
