A Wrinkle in Time...Opinions anyone?

Just finished watching it.

It seemed more like a "Way loosed based-any similarity purely coincidental-(and yes I can't spell)-marketing told us to do it this way-let's do this like a Harry Potter want to be" type of Disney movie.  But what else should I have expected.

Still, entertaining, just not to the level I thought it could be.  It seemed everyone was trying just NOT to answer any questions about the characters, plot or anything so that it would be "mysterious."  However, it just made it a mangled mess of special effects for what seemed like NO reason.

I only watched the first half an hour or because I was busy elsewise but they seemed to be taking forever to set things up by the time Mrs Whatsit showed up that I couldn't see how they were going to fit the rest of the story into any sane running time and still give it justice.  I've read the book; you can get away with pages of narrative flashback in a book much easier then devoting scenes to that kinda stuff in a movie

Generally, I liked it.  You can't expect  cinematic gold on "Wide World of Disney".  I didn't think the Ixchel done right, tubby wookies are just NOT it.  But overall it was a nice way to spend an evening.

So, someone has read the book. I had the book read to me by my 6th grade teacher, then I read the book on my own sometime later. What I like about the miniseries is that it fairly faithfully follows the book as far as I can remember. Even the scene where the boy looks into the crystal ball and sees what is going on at home while he is gone.

I also liked the way that the girl found to reclaim her younger brother from the darkness. Emotionally moving for me.

In other words, I enjoyed both the book and the miniseries
