DRACULA II: ASENCSION (2003) Good Vampire film by Wes Craven. It seems tha Wes Craven and John Carpenter are really getting into the Dracula films. This sequel of sorts is actually a little better than DRACULA 2000. In the sequel they put in alot of things that I didn't know about Vampires and in fact am not sure are in the Bram Stoker story. Like the idea that vampires are obsessive counters and they must untie knots kinda like Lepracauns must shine shoes before moving on. Also the sequel has more connections to Jesus at the end like in Dracula 2000. Again a good film especially for a movie rental.

Anything could be better than Dracula 2000...

That film was horrible!

I haven't seen this one yet but it looks pretty good.
I'll have to rent it sometime soon.

Thanks for the recommendation.

The only thing I liked about DRACULA 2000 was the connection between Dracula/Jesus/Silver/Judas. Other than that DRACULA 2000 stunk, but you will like DRACULA II: ASCENSION much better ASH. The style and such reminded me alittle bit of the PROPHECY films only with Vampires instead of Fallen Angels.

"Good Vampire film by Wes Craven."

You do know that Wes Craven really didn't have anything to do with this movie other than having his name on the movie and a producing credit?

That was also used in a semi-comedic episode of The X-Files. Mulder gets away from a teenage vampire by throwing his packet of sunflower seeds at him so that the kid has to stop and count them.

I didn't think Dracula II was that bad.

They're also supposed to be making Dracula III with most of the same major cast.

I first heard about Vampires being obsessive compulsives in X-Files.  If something is scattered before them, they have to take the time to gather it back together rather than go after their quarry.

I think Dracula II: Ascension might actually be the worst movie I have ever seen in my life, although other movies that say they have something to do with Wes Craven even though he has absolutely nothing to do with them (ex: "They") give this one a run for the money.  The title makes me giggle.  It's like calling a movie "Frankenstein III: Maximum Intensity."

Drac 2k was horrid on all counts

However, Dracula 2 was excellent. When I rented it, I ended up watching it 3 times.  I cant' wait for part III, which filmed at the same time, with Rutger Haugher (dammit, I can't spell his name - from Blade Runner and the new Salems Lot,, and the first Hitcher, you know who I mean) as the Vampire.

I love the idea of Drac being Judas in and in pt 2 its said that he's just a really powerful vampire using the Dracula name to gain power based on the Bram Stoker book.

And Craven had just as much to do with this as he did They -- nothing but a name.
