Ditto again.  Had special thoughts this morning when flying the colors.

Professor Hathaway:  I noticed you stopped stuttering.
Bodie:      I've been giving myself shock treatments.
Professor Hathaway: Up the voltage.

Ditto again again (this is old). Don't worry Deej and Andrew I'm thinking aobut you, me and my boyscout troop went to two memorial day cermoines. I just wanted to know that I (and many others) respect what you do for us.

Now it's time to sing the nation anthem IN AMERICA!!!

Thank you, but on Memorial Day I definitely thought about all the Marines I have given funeral honors over the years.  Lately the unit performs at least 3 funerals a week, sometimes many more.  I think we had 7 one week.  That is impressive when you realize that we take care of just Suffolk County, NY (about 1/2 of Long Island).  Other units take care of Nassau County (closer to NYC) and Queens (suburb of NYC, of course).

A few years ago, while based at HQMC, a friend came to visit Katie and me.   It was a holiday weekend, I just cannot remember if it was Memorial Day or 4th of July.  We went over to Arlington National Cemetery and found her grandfather's gravesite - he died on Iwo Jima when a Japanese grenade landed next to him.  A very sobering event, seeing Kristen looking on her grandfather's grave in the quiet of the late evening.

Thanks very much guys! I'm no longer an active duty Marine, but the sentiment still means a great deal! If you ever get pulled over in OKC, ask the officer's name, if it's me...I'll still cite you, but I'll be very polite while doing it!! Thanks again!!

PS. Quick thanks to Chopper who is currently active duty!!!

Everyone has potentially fatal flaws, but yours involve a love of soldiers' wives, an insatiable thirst for whiskey, and the seven weak points in your left ventricle.

Thanks Deej for representing :) a bunch of friends of mine are getting ready to head out. I hope they make it back alright. The same goes for Andrew and everyone else who serves their country.

And let me add my kudos & thanks ( I've been away dealing with trivialities like breathing -- damn allergies).  I usually take a moment on Memorial Day to toast my great uncle who died in the Great War -- 5 weeks before the armistice.  Horrid luck.
