ok. i don't watch TRL (total request live) for the obvious reason that I have a brain in my head, but while flicking through the channels i stumbled upon the most disturbing thing i've seen in a while.

TRL is on in the afternoon. the target audience is 12 to 23 year olds.

TRL played a video for a song called "freak-a-leak" which in loose street jargon IE ebonics means thus: freak=the act of sex, one who enjoys sex to an unhealthy extent, (it can be a verb or a noun, as in "get your freak on") and "leak" would seem to equal an orifice of the body that may or may not leak IE mouth, rear, and...etc.

lyrics from the "song": "do you want it in the front? do you want it in the back?/do you want it in the (edited), do you want it in your (edited),do you want it over here?, do you want it over there?"

now, during this episode of TRL, viacom was hyping Harry Potter, so the audience was full of kids under 13. They played various games related to Harry Potter and then BAM...hey kids...FREAK-A-LEAK.

the world is ending.

The only time I ever turn on MTV is on Saturday nights to watch Headbangers Ball.

Other than that, MTV has turned into a teeny bopper pit of shame.

Right? I rented the new Peter Pan a couple of nights ago for "family viewing". The audience included my 6 year old and my 14 year old nephew. Pretty safe choice, yeah?

I didn't know the movie would include crotch-shots, bare kid ass, and sexual tension between 12 year olds!!! I'm no prude, nor am I an easily offended fundamentalist-type, but I felt a bit like a perv watching this flick. It was like movie night at Michael Jackson's house. Unclean...unclean........

Everyone has potentially fatal flaws, but yours involve a love of soldiers' wives, an insatiable thirst for whiskey, and the seven weak points in your left ventricle.

This is really typical crap for MTV. I remember when they used to be about music.  The only music channel I watch (only occasionally) is VH1 Classics.

And you thought Trek isn't cool.

It's a cool song.  they gotta learn this stuff sometime

Lester, I hope you're being sarcastic.  And ah yes, Viva La Bam, the show that made H.I.M. a popular band.  If you're not familiar with H.I.M., take about an ounce of Marilyn Manson, put it in a five gallon bucket, and fill the rest with luke-warm p**s.  There you have it.

Arrrgh, MTV has turned into a big piece of crap in the past ten years or so.  I too especially hate TRL.  Hell, I remember when Korn's "Issues" album came out they were on TRL............that was a serious WTF moment.

As for Viva La Bam, it's decently entertaining but NOTHING compared to CKY when Bam was in all of his glory.

As for Punkd, I hope that Ashton bastard dies a horrible painful death.

yeah i remember when mtv used to be real good. i used to watch all the cartoons like maxx, the head, and my all time fav. aeon flux. and your right, mr.henry, it quite disturbing to see something stupid like that on mtv.  also though you have to remember how morons run mtv now and all they care about is ratings. TRL is just about the worst out thier.

*Sigh* There was a time when T.V. stations where they actually showed GOOD stuff. Nickelodion,Sci Fi Channel, Super Station (not as good as it used to be), TNT (what happened to Monster Vision? WTF!!) and now MTV(okay it got crap a while ago). Those days are LONG gone.

Now it's time to sing the nation anthem IN AMERICA!!!

just another thought...even though we had 2 LIVE CREW in the late 80s, etc., it wasn't put on a show with an audience of 12 year olds there to worship the stars of a pg rated kiddie book movie...what's next? r.kelly urinating on babies?

It could be worse, MTV could air some Rockb***h videos, like their masterpiece Fist F*ck. Oh, just in case you're unclear about the meaning of the song, they demonstrate it live on stage. "Up to the wrist!" :)

Kory

This just further supports my theory that MTV is the devil.

By the way- I too am a HUGE fan of VH1 Classic!  I'm only 25, but I hate the crap they call music & play on MTV.  America has truly hit a new low point.

lester1/2jr

dance music has had those kind of lyrics since whenever dance music was invented.

mr. henry

uh....yeah.

like "twist and shout"?

that Saturday Night Fever sure was raw...

Elvis sure sang about where he was gonna put his dick...

what the f...are you talking about dude? you think dance music started with slim shady or something?
