Anybody seen these?

 My four "pillars" of obscurity:

"Gnaw: Food of the Gods, Part ll,"    "Zontar, the Thing from Venus",   "Turkeyshoot", and  Chuck Norris's "Hitman"

I have hardly ever seen these movies disussed, let alone appearing on "bad" lists. If you haven't seen them, give them a try. You (will/wont, as the case may be) be disappointed. :bouncegiggle:

The attacking rat/synchronized swimming team finale in Gnaw has to be seen to be believed. :hot:

I've seen ZONTAR many times.  It was on TV a lot years ago.  I assume the TURKEYSHOOT you are referring to is also known as ESCAPE 2000 . . . I have it on DVD.  I have never seen the other two, but I have the original FOOD OF THE GODS on DVD.

"Escape 2000" is, as far as I know, a heavily edited version of "Turkeyshoot" that clipped 18 minutes of footage from the original (which came in at 99 minutes) for US release.

Escape 2000 (which I have on tape) is repulsive, but Turkeyshoot is downright sickening in spots. Great stuff. There may be a 99 minute version of 2000 around, but I haven't seen it. My Turkeyshoot is Region 3, which of course needs an imported player. It's almost a different movie.

Gnaw has some of the most disgusting/laughable rat scenes in it you could imagine! The finale, which involves the mutated mice invading a swimming pool where a synchronized swim meet is going on, has to be seen to be believed! :buggedout:

With respect to Hitman, Chuck was so creeped out when he viewed the final cut (there is a scene where Bruno Gerussi is hung upside down big-game style and skinned alive), that he vowed he'd never make another movie that carried lower than a G rating, and Walker he became.

Thanks for the reply, by the way. Can't see an edit button here, so I apologize for my rudeness. Is your 2000 DVD 81 minutes, or 99? I couldn't find the 99 minute version in Canada or the US, so I had to buy one from the UK and a player that would play it. I guess I'm a lost cause.

Yeah, Zontar is almost a "classic". I quite enjoy it - I have the usual Beta tape of it I recorded back in the 80's on Public TV Horror Hour.

never heard of these movies before. Turkeyshoot is apparently "Easily the cheapest and nastiest piece of mainstream celluloid ever stitched together " according to one quote online. wouldn't mind checking that out lol

It seems like Escape 2000 has been released fully uncut on DVD.

it's £40 on amazon though, too expensive for me

I have seen Gnaw but not in its entirety, on cable once in the wee morning hours.  Not the worst rat movie by any means (RATS: Night of Terror gets my vote).  But no great shakes either.

Yeah, it was worth fast-forwarding just to see that part.  I read Andrew's review beforehand, so I knew the ending.  But I still had to bust out laughing.
