Two other notable police experiences:

When I was 18, I kicked off the summer with a kick-ass weekend. Friday night was a big bush party north of town. A buddy and I went, got really p**sed, and since we couldn't drive, decided to walk more than 12 miles home after 3am. We had big plans for the next day. We got back to my place around 6am, threw our grass-stained clothes in the wash, and grabbed two hours of sleep. Then, I drove us and a couple of other people to Toronto, where we walked around all day before coming back. Hearing a rumour that there would be a second party, I went back out to the farm, but nobody was there. So, I went back to town, worked out for two hours, and then went to the bar with some friends. Needless to say, I was thoroughly exhausted by that time, on top of being p**sed. The last thing I remember was walking home after closing. Then, I remember somebody asking me for something. Assuming I needed to pay for my next drink, I discovered I was out of money.

"I didn't ask for money, I asked for identification," came the reply. It was then that I noticed I was lying on pavement. For some reason, I thought I was still north of town the night before, but I gradually came back to my senses and figured out that a cop was questioning me. He put me in the back of the car and ran my ID. Meanwhile, I had time to realize that I was on a completely different route than the one I'd been using, the knees of my jeans were ripped to shreds, and my knees were bleeding. What's more, I was snoozing one street behind the one I lived on. I could look through my neighbour's yard and see my parents' house. I was all of 15 seconds from home.

The cop went easy on me. Said he should have taken me to the hospital, but drove me around the block and dropped me off in my driveway. He was glad I didn't try to drive. I assured him that wouldn't happen, and told him how far I'd walked home the night before. He thought I was nuts.

I think I've been cut a little slack in past because my dad is retired from the same department. Still, I don't know how many of the younger guys would know him.

Then there was the time, a few years later, when I cracked my head on a rock at a party, and have a blank period that goes from when I tripped to when I was found locked out of my car at the side of the road, miles away, with a bleeding forehead. I was taken to the hospital that time, and I still have the scar. I also got an ECG, because they thought my blood pressure was high. Well, it was hot, and I drank about a case of caffeine-rich cola that day, and I was scared s**tless besides. Frightening stuff, but the cops were more understanding than I would have expected. Just the same, I had to make my way home from the hospital at 5am ($25 cab fare), and get a hold of a garage owner on Sunday morning to pay the towing fee and get my car back. All very embarrasing.

I haven't partied much in years, and I rarely even drink these days. Probably a good thing, looking back on my wilder days.

LOL That file on us must be getting real big, ASH. I've never been arrested, but about 3 years ago I had a quite disturbing incident with a patrol. I was walking home when a police car stopped by and they said I looked similar to a suspect they had just arrested and that they needed me for a line-up. I asked what would happen if I refused, and they started threatening me with all sorts of administrative sanctions, so I finally accepted and they took my documentation and made me enter the car. About a street or two later they got a call from the police precint saying they didn't need me after all, so they stopped the car, apologized and gave me back my documentation.

It is a really minor incident, I know, but I found the episode quite disturbing, and have tried to stay away from the police ever since.

Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.
