THE PHANTOM OF SOHO (1966) This German murder mystery film is based on the writings of Byron Edgar Wallace and takes place in the streets and clubs of Londons red light district of Soho. The film shows the underworld with the sounds of jazz in the background. For it's time I imagine it was a risque film and you can also note that it may be even more revealing than some current films on the same underworld subjects. The film manages a little comedy and background music that you find in Cormans early films. They also work alot with lighting in this b/w film.

My local Best Buy had some cheap Edgar Wallace films recently, I was curious but have been in a money pinch and have had to hold off buying DVDs for the time being.Just from the sheer number of films, especially German ones, based on his work there must be something to them

I actually had this DVD in my hand today at Best Buy.  It was on their "$5.99 and under" rack.  Maybe I should have bought it.

That is were I picked up my copy. I'm not a big fan of murder mysteries, but the film might have a couple elements that might interest movie fans.
