Looks like the M. Night  debacle got us a bunch on new folks on the phorum.  I just wanted to let them know if you are going to post on a subject and you figure it's been posted about before, please do a search and find the old post instead of starting a new thread.

I was guilty of this when I started posting here, so I 'm not griping, just giving a little advice.

And you thought Trek isn't cool.

But there are ALOT of post to try and go through to see if this had been mentioned in them, since alot of them seem to go way off topic.

If a year-old thread of 50+ posts pops to the top again with one new thought added, I tend to ignore it. I'd much rather have a fresh discussion begin than refamiliarize myself with an old, rambling thread.

Just the same, I do get annoyed when I see the same topics appear again and again. What is the worst movie ever? Can you recommend some bad movies? It's hard to imagine anybody believes that these questions have never been asked before. These are the things that can surely be answered with a search, or even a perusal of the reviews.

And I agree that it can be trying when a whole bunch of new folks arrive without knowing how the board works, or understanding the established etiquette here. But, the good ones learn fast, and the others don't hang around long.

Maybe we can come up with a FAQ on those topics

Well I'm one of the new folks, but I got here from a recommendation at Reel Horror. I like what I see and will be sticking around. You have some great stuff not just in the forum but all over this site. Good job!!

Cheese is good food. So are the movies. Not food that is, just cheese.

I got an idea, sice I am a newbie who found with Night thing, I eventually got off and saw what else you had to offer...cool stuff.  I also have gotten a lot of help (Andy C included) with some threads I posted needing some help.

How about the regulars tell us newbies what you want and don't want with the threads that are up now?  I think I have an idea of what you would chose, but I could learn a thing or 2...

For example:
Don't wants: Anything anbout Night doc!!!,
Want: Best thread of all time

Probably a don't want is "what's the worst movie of all time."

What I don't like seeing is "thus and such movie sux" or "so and so sux".
Give reasons why something/one sucks.
