I haven't been in a video store in a long time and I was wondering if they rent the complete seasons of TV shows on DVD? If so, do they rent the entire season as a package, or do they rent the individual DVDs?

Hm, over here in Germany they do, so I don't really see a reason why they shouldn't that at your neck of the woods.
And (here at least) you can rent the entire boxed sets, mostly even at good rates as you prolly will need more then one night to watch them.

JohnL,

Yep, they do rent out TV shows on DVD.  I have only rented shows from Blockbuster, but those money grubbing bastards rent them out as individual DVDs, not box sets......

So now if I want to rent the first season of In Living Color or Nip/Tuck, I have to rent five individual DVDs.  Kind of a rip off.

Yeah my Hollywood Video rents out individual disc of series. That's how I've been watching "The Sopranos" once I saw all the episodes my local library had.But they only carry a few really popular or high profile series.

Netflix seems to have whole series for rent with a much broader selection, still as individual discs looks like. But since they also list various anime series on their site, I'm considering signing up once my financial situation is better and splurge on entertainment more.

Thanks for the replies. I figured Netflix would, but I'm not crazy about paying a monthly fee. I'd rather just pay only for what I wanted to see. Of course the shows I'd want to rent would be the ones no store would carry...

most seem to at least rent the SAPRANOS...but if your looking for BBC stuff like the YOUNG ONES or BOTTOM or FATHER TED...good luck!!!!

I've seen "Coupling" for rent at Hollywood, and maybe some old Python eps, but that's about it for Brit TV at my local store. Mostly it's "Sopranos", "Sex in the City", "Band of Brothers", "Queer as Folk", "Wiseguy", "The Wire", "Family Guy", "The Simpsons", and that NBC series about the drug cartel. Like was said, high profile, mostly from pay cable, and fairly mainstream stuff. Although they do have a couple of discs of "Initial D" there though. That's odd.

I'm hoping they get "Deadwood", between the clips and stuff I've read, it sounds like I'd like it. Gritty, grubby Old West violence, debauchery, and general dirty dealings. And Ian McShane as a real nasty SOB.
